Training Facilities ? Physio
Re: Training Facilities ? Physio
So it was all just a massive overreaction? Who would've thought it...

See previous page, re comments from the chairman.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:31 pmNo, no it wasn’t. Cooper himself again mentioned it after the game tonight, basically said Devitts injury was down to us not being ready properly for the season

Yep, heard them and read the summary………but Mark Cooper has made a point to mention it after both games so far, don’t think he’d be doing that if all has been well would he?Moribund wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:33 pmSee previous page, re comments from the chairman.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:31 pm

The point is, it's clearly not as much of a mess has been made out. A big difference between "not ideal" and "absolute shambles".HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:37 pmYep, heard them and read the summary………but Mark Cooper has made a point to mention it after both games so far, don’t think he’d be doing that if all has been well would he?

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Seem a very weird decision to appoint someone who’s never operated in a footballing role as director of football. Very poor if you ask me

He isn’t full on director of football
More a link between the management team and the board.
He won’t be getting involved in team selection, selecting signings etc

Re: Training Facilities ? Physio
I have read tonight's programme notes from Paul hornby, interesting stuff 11th highest budget last season, 25 percent increase this year.
Best training and medical set up in the division.
Clearly there has been issues and pre season hasn't been as well organised as it could have been, I think in the absence of anything else people speculate and thats what the forum is all about, now a statement of such has been made we can Draw a line under it now.. I'm actually quite excited about the season ahead

Spot on ,Mark Cooper is still upset, because we're being deprived of players due to the pre-season mistakes, yes Paul Hornby is right ,( because it's OK now !) but he's no fool he's not going to admit the club (at first) got it wrong and I don't blame him!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:37 pmYep, heard them and read the summary………but Mark Cooper has made a point to mention it after both games so far, don’t think he’d be doing that if all has been well would he?

Absolutely agree. Hornby said in interview Mark Hetherington (thankfully) was persuaded by himself and Shearer to come back and sort the mess out. This he has done by ripping up the clubs training plans and the new plans do look good all be it a couple of months late.Hornby is a great PR man and his measured and calm approach when speaking publicly about such issues as he did las night has to be applauded.

Strange you hear one thing pre match then. Post match with Cooper you hear another thing confusing.
Re: Training Facilities ? Physio
PH has said that the training set-up is now sorted and that Coops is delighted with it. Doesn't mean MC isn't still hacked off at what's gone on until now i.e. dealing with unfit players getting injured due to lack of conditioning.Mancbluebird wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 11:29 am Strange you hear one thing pre match then. Re: Training Facilities ? Physio
There's a difference between getting it wrong, and making what they felt was the right decision only for it to fail due to external circumstances. They have once again moved quickly to rectify the issue, and by the sound of it have acquired a far superior set up.
I'm sure it's been another expensive learning curve - but havent heard them once whinging about the cost. Time to put the to bed and move on.
