Don't think the football would have enough staff to even assist in such a set up

The club shop would almost certainly sell more merchandise if it was in town, ticket sales would be easier. Problem is finding somewhere for a decent price and then staffing it
Re: Barrow v Hartlepool match thread
It was good to see a reasonable away following yesterday, have to admit it did look a bit tight over in that corner. Promising signs on the pitch with a good work rate right through the side and with glimpses of quality here and there. With a bit more time on the training pitch and improved conditioning hopefully these niggling injuries clear up and we'll be a match for most in the division.
Overall a poor home crowd, mind I don't think the club did much to help itself here! the odd tweet here and there but other than that I think we just believe people should turn up. I understand those who may be reluctant to return, however don't underestimate the potential that some have just found other things to do with their time after a year out! Its an expensive past time and some may well have decided to spend their money and time elsewhere. As the first proper game back in the football league without restrictions and with a good away following expected, we should have been really pushing this to encourage the floating fan through the door. The villa game gives us a bit of a free hit to lift attendances but we still need to do more engagement amongst the community if we want gates to rise. Theres also no reason we can't have at least one place you can buy a ticket on the day using cash, makes it easy to decide on the day and still attend, young or old. I'm not even sure the electronic tickets work, like others mine wouldn't scan yesterday.
Anyway on to Exeter which should give us a good benchmark of where we are.

Attendance figures depend on whether Barrow use tickets actually sold or actual turnstile clicks and there is a difference. All i know is at 2pm i checked the ticket site and there was only 60 tickets for sale in the main stand and i thought we would smash 3000 based upon that. Yet clearly big gaps in the “BAR” part of the stand. This tells me people with tickets aren't actually going to the game, or they are not sitting where they should, or these seats are withheld from sale. If they have been sold but not included in the attendance well that is Barrow’s way of working out the attendance based on turnstile clicks and not actual tickets sales.

Might be wrong but think the empty spaces were hospitality seats.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:57 am Attendance figures depend on whether Barrow use tickets actually sold or actual turnstile clicks and there is a difference. Historically we've used seats in those areas to accommodate corporate guests, could these seats have been reserved with this intention, limiting general sale?

Think they are left like that - and rightly so - for people to move to in view of covid. Indeed I moved to one as the guy next to me was practically sitting on my knee!boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:59 amMight be wrong but think the empty spaces were hospitality seats.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:57 am Attendance figures depend on whether Barrow use tickets actually sold or actual turnstile clicks and there is a difference. With the town centre being run down maybe a shop on the retail park were Tesco is maybe a better option if it was financially viable.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:55 amThe club shop would almost certainly sell more merchandise if it was in town, ticket sales would be easier. Lots going to the shops and would be quite happy to go let there better half go shopping while they look at the soccer shop
Re: Barrow v Hartlepool match thread
Hmmm not sure. There were a lot of gaps not just in that area usually reserved for hospitality. I am going to say that the club have withdrawn a lot of seats in the stand from general sale for hospitality guests and sponsors and if they don’t sell hospitality or sponsors don’t take up their tickets then these seats will remain empty. See it all the time at all levels of the game. Empty seats, but seemingly full house attendances. No one wants to be bottom of the attendance league do they. A bigger attendance gives a perception of success at all levels.
The point here is do Barrow AFC announce attendance based on ticket sales or the numbers who actually come through the turnstile on the day.

Re: Barrow v Hartlepool match thread
Police in the ground were useless and just happy to film everything more than stop it. I stood near the barrier and coins were being thrown from the away end all during the game .No barrow fan throw any flares or went on the pitch or try and get through the barrier at the end of the game. Being next to away fans in the home end will not work and needs to be addressed as the police will not intervene the only thing the got right all day was after the match and they way they blocked the streets off.

Re: Barrow v Hartlepool match thread
Correct these are unsold hospitality seats. The take up for hospitality has not been great for first two home games. Perhaps Covid has something to do with this and people reluctant to sit in a crowded room before a game. All these seats along with some that away supporters used to sit in at the Holker St end of the main stand were made unavailable for purchase when season tickets went on general sale. The club need a cut off date for hospitality seats say two days before a game so those seats can then be put on. general sale. . IIRC it was announced that the seats not available for sale at the Holker St end of the main stand are for any EFL representatives, scouts ETC who are attending.boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:59 amMight be wrong but think the empty spaces were hospitality seats.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:57 am Attendance figures depend on whether Barrow use tickets actually sold or actual turnstile clicks and there is a difference. You're not saying that the figures given out were higher than the actual attendance are you? That makes the attendance even worse! Besides I thought the club has to pay some sort of tax based on their attendance in which case the tendency would be to understate it.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 11:18 am Empty seats, but seemingly full house attendances.
