3-2 in basically our first proper home league game in 40 years and people are talking about turnstyle clicks, away fans and stewards :skill:

What we lacked in quality was made up for in running their chuds off!

Mark Ellis was superb
Jury is out on festus

Hope the 4/5 knocks are ok for Tuesday but early signs are we could be a bit thin on the ground

I am going to say that the club have withdrawn a lot of seats in the stand from general sale for hospitality guests and sponsors and if they don’t sell hospitality or sponsors don’t take up their tickets then these seats will remain empty. See it all the time at all levels of the game. Empty seats, but seemingly full house attendances. No one wants to be bottom of the attendance league do they. A bigger attendance gives a perception of success at all levels.
The point here is do Barrow AFC announce attendance based on ticket sales or the numbers who actually come through the turnstile on the day.
Season ticket holders who haven't returned yet
Exactly that Ian, I know season ticket holders that haven't returned and probably won't all season untill Covid calms down. Club have had there money and they are happy to pay it...

You’ve lived a sheltered life if dressing like [SwearFilter] is your idea of fun. Should be sponsored by Smithys. Their tradition is to lose football matches at Holker St.
Wow, so edgy and judgemental, sucks to be you, son.
Do you run a fancy dress shop or something?
I wanna take you to an Away Bar

Re hospitality- it could be a good idea to actually promote the hospitality because apart from running with a small news item on the official site in pre season its not been pushed at all. The official website Stevenage uses is the same format as ours and they have linked Hospitality packages right next to the tickets link and the fixtures list on their site. This feature does not appear on our website. It might draw a few more towards hospitality, especially those who are looking for a matchday treat, or one off attendance- ir ground hoppers. Just little things like this to draw focus to the matchday hospitality is available. The links are currently buried in the main site.

So these should be included in the attendance then?

Going back to the match, some saying Hartlepools goal appeared offside, I'd recorded quest and froze the picture, he was well onside good decision from the linesman! Bad angle but Sea's goal seems just about ligit 🤣 !

I think the 'who is counted?' debate has been resolved on here in the past. Perhaps one of those concerned about it would like to perform a site search and report back with the link on a new thread.

That's down to the person doing the scanning, and in my opinion is totally wrong and concerning. Did he make that decision off his own initiative, or contact a supervisor ?
I witnessed at least 8 people climbing over the Holker Street gate next to the turnstile when the teams came out and there was still a huge cue there

I imagine they were heading to their cars, which I understand have become quite popular in County Durham in recent years.

Afraid not, those who remained in line didn’t get into the ground until gone 5 past 3..and missed the first goal. The chaps who went ahead certainly weren’t included in the attendance.

A big chunk of that seating is now turned over to corporate, I guess if you dont sell that the seats will be empty. I know when I bought my season ticket Anya showed me the seats that weren't available, I was surprised how many there were.

You're not saying that the figures given out were higher than the actual attendance are you? That makes the attendance even worse! Besides I thought the club has to pay some sort of tax based on their attendance in which case the tendency would be to understate it.
As far as I know, the attendance figure has always been ticket sales plus all season tickets (whether the latter attend or not). No tax is paid on the 'attendance' as such but all ticket sales form part of the club's income.
Don't let the old man in.
