Are we looking to bring in a Number 9 or not
Re: Are we looking to bring in a Number 9 or not
My local newspaper says Hartlepool still looking to sign a striker on loan. I guess that will be true of several other clubs too. I think some fans underestimate how much competition there is for the players who might be available.
Re: Are we looking to bring in a Number 9 or not
Every club in the country wants a [SwearFilter] striker who can score 20 a season, grow up and give it a rest.
Re: Are we looking to bring in a Number 9 or not
I genuinely don't think we need a new forward (although, it'd be nice if we did land one). We need someone who can just provide that additional service to the likes of Zanzala and Gordon; someone who can work in midfield, stopping them having to drop back all the time. Maybe these Leeds lads will be those missing links.

Got to ask why Quigley and Rooney both preferred to play for NL clubs rather than stay at Barrow. They could have had personal reasons of course, or there could have been common underlying concerns that if understood the club could work to address, and hopefully avoid encountering again in the future.

This has been addressed God knows how many times..... ££££££££££££££££David881 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 1:58 pm Got to ask why Quigley and Rooney both preferred to play for NL clubs rather than stay at Barrow. I get the point you're making, but I don't buy it. Rooney and Quigs left for better (or similar) money, closer to home. That's got nothing to do with the club! Unless you're on about moving the club, but this isn't the NFL and we're not the Oakland Raiders! Let's get over Quigs and Rooney, look to the future mate.

It's common knowledge that the budgets between L2 and NL are similar, with some club's (Wrexham, Stockport, etc) far outcompeting many L2 clubs. It's just one of those things.

Re: Are we looking to bring in a Number 9 or not
I watched Wrexham v Notts County yesterday and Wrexham had about 5 players who were playing in EFL 2 last season including Mullin from Cambridge and Tozer from Cheltenham which were both promoted to EFL 1 this season so they effectively dropped 2 divisions. Common denominator? Nothing but money which is the only reason 99% of players drop down to a lower league.
Re: Are we looking to bring in a Number 9 or not
Re my earlier post, my local paper reports today that Hartlepool are "awaiting news on offers for two strikers".

We’ve just beat (hammered) one of the worst teams in the league. That doesn’t mean signing another goalscorer wasn’t a sensible suggestion……

Oldham sound very much like we were at the start of last season except they have won games.
They have beaten Salford and Sutton, drawn with Accrington and Tranmere and lost by a single goal to Colchester, Bristol Rovers and Newport.
Maybe they are not as bad a team as people are making out and the credit for their "hammering" belongs more to Barrow.
