Oldham game on iFollow

Post by xerxes » Wed Sep 01, 2021 9:50 pm

The Oldham game will be on iFollow, with Barrow getting the income if booked via BAFC website. If we all watch on iFollow, is the financial support this could generate worth more than the vocal support that would be provided by if we all went to the match? Discuss.

Unlikely to stop anyone going but will allow those who can't to watch and generate a few quid. Best of both worlds. Not sure of the logic behind the decision, why an international break allows this, but good news.

On the basis that those able to go to the game will do so anyway it's just a bonus that the rest can bung a bit of extra cash in the club's direction (I know I will). Win-win. In fact, the way Latics are at the moment it could be win-win-win.

Not everyone will do either so it’s a mute point.

Those who want to travel will & fair play to them but ifollow is brilliant for expats & those who can’t go so it’s a win win imho as the club gets vocal in person backing one way & a bit of financial backing the other, Which previously was not an option

Agreed - the one that is less easy to call is our next home game a week on Friday at 7.45 which is also on iFollow.
Nothing quite like watching the lads under the floodlights so hope this doesn't keep some away.
The money generated by iFollow is nowhere near what would come through the turnstyle, so get yerself to Holker Street.

However, there's no reason, rather than showing it on iFollow, why the EFL couldn't take the opportunity, like Non-league day, to try to attract through the turnstiles floating fans, the armchair Premier watchers and those who normally go to PL games.

Any cash generated from iFollow goes to the away side anyway doesn't it? So if people were going to use iFollow to watch next week's game, Barrow wouldn't get a penny. At least that's how I understand it.
Popular side since '03.

Barrow are home to Leyton Orient on the next international break, then away to Carlisle on the following break.

Yes.
I read that Bob Lord, the former Chairman of Burnley, had brought in a law during in the 70s that prohibited EFL matches to be screened on a Saturday afternoon. I read that in a post by somebody on here. So what's changed?
