I was stood in the Holker st end directly behind the goal when the supposed allegations were made, nobody around me shouted or heard anything racist, numerous lads who were stood around me all said the same thing, so if it was that clear that the Colchester keeper heard it,why didnt any fans, because the general opinion was that there's no place for that at our club

I must agree, I was stood at the back and heard nothing. The accusation seemed to have come after his goal kick where he got the standard “you shit [SwearFilter]” that every keeper gets. But if there was someone being racist hopefully they were reported, kicked out and are awaiting their lifetime ban.

Strong statement from the club, exactly what was needed to stop all the social media abuse to everything they posted

Well, I can tell u my son was stood nearer the back of the Holker Street end and although he couldn't see who was responsible, he was disgusted and was very clear in telling me that the 'N' word was used by someone stood directly behind the goal nearer the front. I'm sick of hearing this, no one but the player being abused heard anything so maybe he was mistaken crap. This shite still exists despite everything that the authorities try to do because unfortunately there are still racists in every, city, town, village and hamlet in this country. [SwearFilter] scum of the earth.

i was stood in the holker end in the first half, and i didn't here anything.i,m not saying it didn,t happen but i can,t recall their goal keeper being offended. Then again if it (supposedly)happened it must be true.innocent until proven guilty? Then again as normal with barrow fans, guilty before proven innocent
how we get there i don,t no.Barrows on the way

I think thats what makes it worse, the fact most people who I was stood around had the same view, and would'nt of tolerated any form of the supposed abuse judging by the reaction when announced, the keeper complained to the ref and pointed in the direction we were stood....100% nobody around me heard or seen anything

I have no idea what, if anything, was said tonight but yes, of course I agree with you in principle Manc Bluebird. Racist comments are despicable and only uttered by inadequates but part of the problem lies with the "punishment" meted out when an offender is indeed caught out. Whether it's for racial offence or even things as grave as murder or rape our criminal justice system has got softer and softer and softer over the last 30 or 40 years. The one that makes me laugh (not) is the murderer who gets a "life" sentence which turns out to be 12 years reduced to 6 with only 3 to be served if behaviour is good. What hope is there?

The goalkeeper did have a conversation with the referee so that was probably when he made his complaint.

Well I am hoping that this may have been a mis-hearing of our zigger chant but I worry that it’s not.
Barrow is a town with very little ethnic diversity when compared to a lot of the rest of the country and this combined with a lot of ‘old school, older aged, working men’ makes me think that this may be an underlying issue that sadly may linger. With the lack of diversity I do think that at times some people are a little less aware of the terminology that is no longer acceptable these days as well.
Either way, the keeper has made the complaint regarding something he heard. If anyone witnessed it then for gods sake step forward to the club - we don’t need that at our club.

Need to wait to see what has been reported by the goalkeeper before we can judge, if it has happened it needs to stop.one clown in a tent does not make a circus.

I was stood behind the goal and I didn’t hear any racist language.
Maybe there was and I missed it or there’s every chance the keeper misheard something.
Either way all Barrow fans have been hung, drawn and quartered already.

Saddened by this but not surprised. Reputation of Barrow fans will be damaged. What about some positive action to show everyone we are anti-racist? Cheers when the players take the knee, anti-racist chants, a message of apology to the lad from the fans. This is not the time to stay quiet.

This is absolute madness, there was no racist abuse, the keeper, who looked a wind up merchant with his antics, obviously misheard the zigger chant. It’s ridiculous, nobody else heard it. We are not a racist club and we all know it.
