Stand bought from Bradford City late 90's

Post by EricMcManus » Sat Sep 11, 2021 7:44 pm

Hi,

I'm a Bradford City fan in peace just wanting to understand what happened to a stand that I recall our club sold to yours in the late 90's.

We built a new stand on our Midland Road and had a low roof stand that was the full length of the pitch for standing only. At the time it was reported locally that we sold it to you for £10k.

Can anybody recall if it was built, and if so the history of it? For example, what it was called, and if it still remains.

Many thanks and good luck for the season.

To the best of my knowledge that stand was never rebuilt after Barrow purchased it.I think at the time Barrow were going through a bad period financially and never had the money to rebuild it.I think it just lay there in pieces until it was eventually cut up.If anyone knows anything different please tell us what happened to it.It was a pity but I think it was going to go where the offices and Fanzone are now and would have meant we would have had a stand on each side if the pitch, something we still haven,t got.

I remember it being bought and think it was for the Steelworks end. If I remember rightly, it was just left to rot where the fan zone is now and never went up

I remember it being bought, but it was never erected. Think I remember some of the posts lying at the back next to the sports and leisure. No idea where the roof was kept.
Stood behind Ray Wilkie for years. Best education I ever had.

We still have it in storage in an Amazon warehouse near Penrith. There are plans for it to be reconstructed in the near future. Half of it will be used to shelter our white supremacists and half for our communists. The two types of Barrow supporter. The white supremacist side will be constructed with a special Skrewdriver to keep out snowflakes and the communist side will be built by seizing the means of production.

Get the Skrewdriver reference to the right-wing unsuccessful band of the 80's. What I don't get is your increasingly bizarre posts on here. I really think the moderator needs to have a word.

Cheers @MisterPleasant, appreciate not everyone will not get the humour or references sometimes but just trying to be mildly entertaining. No offence meant to anyone in my posts. Everyone's views are welcome even if I don't agree with some. Maybe if some people stopped being so angry we could all move on in a positive direction. We all support Barrow, we all support our players. Let's respect them.

I liked it, nothing like an inspired bit of semi-surrealist free association on a Sunday morning. Speaking of which (not sure the word 'inspired' applies though)...

What a big old waste of money that was then, eh Ted?

So there you have it. If we bring the bits back on the coach on Saturday can we have a refund? We need the cash to invest in someone who'll stand up to Cooky.

For a few seconds I thought you were being serious
Would love to see a Stand constructed in The Steelworks End. Get rid of The Fan Zone - no disrespect to the volunteers who put a shift in - and knock The Cross Bar down. Then house the away fans in the newly constructed Stand. Then we'd have a real football stadium :D
