For anyone travelling to Vale Park on Saturday and looking for a pre-match pint, several of us will be in the White Horse in Tunstall from about 12:30. The pub is used by my extended family members and is situated on Brownhills Road in Tunstall which I'm told is a brisk 10 minute walk (downhill) to Vale Park. I should say that the pub is no Wetherspoons and is more of a drinkers pub but does get 4 out of 5 stars on tripadvisor.
We've had a word with the landlord and he is happy to have as many (well behaved) BAFC supporters as wish to turn up. Apparently the pub is quite popular with away supporters so there should be no problem. Clearly other pubs are available though the advice is generally speaking to steer clear of pubs in Burslem pre-match as these will be stuffed with Vale supporters still debating how they managed to lose at Sutton last week. As an alternative to Tunstall those travelling by train might want to grab a beer closer to the station in Hanley.

A very brisk 10 minutes walk! I would give yourself at least 20 mins from that pub. Yes looking at the map anybody drinking in the pub should probably set off for the ground no later than 2:30

In response, the White Horse ain't great but it's cheap enough. A 5 minute walk towards Tunstall there's The Globe which always served a good pint of Bass. Tunstall is a shit hole though so don't waste your time walking any further than The Globe.
Longport is the closest station to Burslem and you may even be lucky enough to see a bus as you walk the 25 minutes up bank to the town centre. There's a couple of boozers on the way up plus the odd takeaway/chippy. As you get to the top of the hill turn right into St John's Square and seek out the Bulls Head, which is the Titanic Brewery tap, and have a couple of pints of Plum Porter, or maybe half a Wreckage or two. Across from here is Johnys Micro Pub and a 5 minute walk towards the ground you have the Bursley Alehouse. All accepting away fans in small numbers and serving good beer, but do get busy. The other pubs in town may/may not not be friendly.
If you arrive into Stoke station you'll need a taxi (should be plentiful) and about 15 minutes travelling time on a Saturday. The station buffet is a BOD bar, again operated by Titanic.
If arriving by car be very careful where you park as most of Burslem is double yellow, or worse, double red lines, and the wardens are out in force on matchday.
There's a fanzone at the ground, serving beer and food. There's also Tommy's Bar by the Hamil Road (away) stand. Just past the ground you have the Vale cafe and 100 yards past this Hamil Oatcakes, so after you've worked your way thought the Titanic range why not fill up on a couple of chees and bacon oatcakes. You know it makes sense.
