BARROW V S*unthorpe match thread
Re: BARROW V S*unthorpe match thread
Quite a contrast to the last home game, when both sides played well and either could have won but a draw was a fair result. Last night, a draw was again a fair result but only because neither side deserved to win. Both penalties were awful decisions so it was justice that both were missed.
Re: BARROW V S*unthorpe match thread
The keeper was that far off his line I instantly thought it would be retaken, alas not. The linesman on the stand side was nothing but an ornament for the whole game, Josh Gordon was constantly being bundled over off the ball, alright it's a physical game, but that was ridiculous, the linesman are very timid and dont like to ruffle the refs feathers.

Strange that the highlights package the club uploaded on YouTube doesn’t show our penalty or Gordon hitting the bar.

We could easily have lost that had they not sat so deep in the second half. Their lack of someone who could put the ball in the net was worse than ours. They had quite a free shots and shot wide each time.

Fair enough, thanks Adam. Still, strange editing nonetheless.Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 3:35 pmHighlights are edited by sky not the clubBarrowHarry wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 3:25 pm Strange that the highlights package the club uploaded on YouTube doesn’t show our penalty or Gordon hitting the bar.

I see no sensible reason why a club would over-declare an attendance figure.mall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 6:59 amIf you are correct, and I suspect you are, that attendance is shocking and goes against what the club envisaged we would get once the crowds returned after covid.Jonty wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:59 pm Never 2700 in there tonight I would say 1700 tops.
We overplayed it and when we did start putting decent balls into the box we cant get on the end of it. Set pieces - please change the corner routine because I don’t think we ever win anything in the air from corners.
Most frustrating game of the season. Scunthorpe came with spoiling tactics and got the point. We won’t have a game with as much ball possession again for the rest of the season (86% second half. Forget the first half we were terrible)
Those sort of attendance figures will see us back in national league sooner rather than later.
We learned previously that there is no method of presenting attendance that is mandated by the League. We don't know what Barrow's policy is. If season tickets and bought tickets that don't attend are included, that wouldn't come anywhere near the difference Jonty suggests.

And just why would you want to know that? If the club has sold 2700 people worth I dont see what the issue isbluessupporter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 12:33 pmAgreed. When I looked online on Monday almost all of the Stand tickets appear to have been sold, yet it was half empty last night.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 10:34 pm
Never go in for all these inflated crowd theories but that one tonight genuinely baffled me, there was loads of room on the popular side, to hear it was over 2700 was a pleasant surprise to say the least
I know that season tickets are counted as though they had turned up, and I suspect there were also ST holders missing from other parts of the ground, so it would be useful to know how many spectators there were IN THE GROUND last night, not on paper.
Somebody must have those figures, so why aren't they being released?
Re: BARROW V S*unthorpe match thread
Hey it was just my guesstimate that it didn’t look like a 2700+ crowd based upon the number of away fans and the other week having in over 3000, it didn’t feel like we were anywhere near that. But I was wildly out.

Re: BARROW V S*unthorpe match thread
Barrow was named in the Covid UK top ten recently. A lot of season ticket holders might decide to give the game a miss as a precaution and maybe they are counted in the attendance figures regardless. Not sure if it works like that or not.

I think it probably just shows we have been under declaring the figure for years!Hadrian wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 4:44 pmI see no sensible reason why a club would over-declare an attendance figure.

Suggesting that even with a minimal number of season ticket holders attending and no tickets sold , there will be a declared attendance of 1200ish?GazzaT wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 6:47 pmI think it probably just shows we have been under declaring the figure for years!Hadrian wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 4:44 pm
