Somethings not right.
For me, it's this change in tactics and personnel selected.

Cast you mind back. Cooper wants to play progressive free flowing football, playing through the thirds and keeping possession. We start the season with some nice interchanges in play and keep possession whilst not being too much of a threat to the opposition. Ultimately though, we grind chances out and score goals.

Fast forward then to when we go through a chunk of games where we get caught out through playing out from the back. These though, were INDIVIDUAL errors. Cooper abandoned the whole philosophy he'd implemented from the get go, trashed it and gone to long balls into the channels/up to small ish strikers, and hitting the big diagonal switch.

We don't have to players to play like this. Tactics like this bypasses getting our creative midfield players on the ball and leaves the attacking players feeding off scraps. It beggars belief. Looking at the defenders...James Jones is never a LG2 player, nor is Grayson in my eyes. I reckon his fastest mile is 14 mins. It's testament when your father (an experienced manager) doesn't touch you with a barge pole. Any ball over the top and this kid is struggling... I also don't think he's an out and out defender. I'm not really sure what he is, he's certainly not a midfielder either.

For me I think back to when we were still in the mindset of playing attacking football and we dropped Ollie Banks into the CB role vs Bradford. He was phenomenal and set the tempo, instigated every possession, played out the back with ease and also did the defensive side of the game very well. In this current format, he's having less and less of an impact on games and it's just confusing as to why MC has aborted what he's championed since the get go.

Rant over

Cooper out
Concur-well put.

Far too early for them thoughts old lad!
But we need to strengthen when the time allows.
Cheers Mark-I needed that.
Its just that its so bloody worrying after waiting all this time to return to the league.

Pat Brough named MoM.
The goal was Jones fault he shouted for the ball and lost it !

Absolutely dreadful from start to finish make no bones about it we are in a dog fight even this early on. Let’s hope there’s two teams poorer than us.

In two months we’ve managed to ruin a real player in Gotts he’s none existent now playing this way and looks lost. How Jones comes in ahead of White after a year out I’d be knocking on managers door Monday if I was White asking what his issue was!

You would think after barely playing Luke James would be bang up to make an impression…..nah not today pal.

James Jones is never FL standard I’d have Platt and Grayson either side of Ellis…..

Anyway I give up they weren’t arsed today so neither can I……

A lot of fans will not be there next game I bet.

I would rather be a team that plays with flair and stays in the game than the hoof ball team we are at the moment. Weve gone from being an entertaining atracking team to watch to what we saw today in the space of five or six weeks, this tactical change has put us in reverse.

Worst performance I've seen at Holker St this season. Had 2 great chances to put the game to bed and not one executed. Toothless up front, long ball over a talented midfield and a defence which gave the goal away. Must try harder

Our game plan is totally non existant all our players don't want to make a mistake, the ball is like a hot potato, we have wingbacks who (until we get desperate) never take a player on just pumping balls into the box but the thing is we hardly put any players in the box.

while the conditions weren't great ,tat today was poor no running off the ball, too slow to close down, we lack quality on the bench to change a game, our directors made a massive mistake not replacing Quigs, please don't give me "well every club wants one " we have a man in charge of scouting surely there's someone who is desperate to play league football, anything is better than Luke James he's so poor !.
Cooper needs to have a rethink surely 4 3 3 is better than the crap we watched today!

Today we seemed to be devoid of ideas.Passing inaccurate.Giving the opposition a goal caused by not bring aware of what was happening around them. With this team at the moment,I can,t see how we are going to score.Something needs to happen, even if it means getting rid of some players.
I just hope I,m wrong and they prove me wrong on Tuesday night against Forest Green. At least Mark Cooper was honest in his interview and apologised to the fans for the teams performance today.I just hope he can sort it.

Seemed like for the first 5 - 10 minutes we were the better team, then Crawley realised we have no bite to our play and decided to take us on, the rest is history.

Look don’t kid yourselves about the way we play. There’s more than one way to play and win a football match. When we played Scunthorpe we had 80% possession and 600+ pass completion and yet created next to nothing and still didn’t win.

The problem is we lack the extra bit you need to influence a game and win. We are on the wrong side of another close game. Everything else in the middle is the same as every other team I’ve seen. It’s that final killer instinct that is missing. We just haven’t got that at present
