Re: BARROW v Crawley match thread
Think worst game performance seen this season. Two poor teams and Crawley beat us easily with their height and physicality over our smaller lightweight players.Sorry but for me Mick Jones should have been taken off much earlier.Felt sorry for Hutton often in loads of room on right and people never passed to him.Little control of ball or any composure. We have regressed under this new system and without another striker to support zinzala cannot see where any goal will come from against decent teams.Banks not nearly as effective under this system. Can see us sliding further down table with the run of games coming up resulting in smaller home crowds.Thank goodness Carlisle and Scunthorpe worse than us at moment. At this rate be relieved to finish third bottom!

Keep the faith. It will all come good in January according to Mr. Cooper!

Re: BARROW v Crawley match thread
Had, previously, a lot of respect for Cooper. However I'm possibly not alone in questioning his ability to manage tonite. How he keeps selecting Zanzala in the starting 11 is baffling and that's putting it politely. Luke James isn't a football league player that's obvious to the proverbial every man and his dog. Prior to the game if he'd explained that because the only 2 available forwards just aren't up to it at present for watever reason and he was putting Kay up top as a lone roving forward and adding White to midfield to enhance our ball retention (copying a man cityish formation if you will) no one would've batted an eye as it's that obvious a major re-jig is required. Instead Cooper, the manager of a side desperately in need of some authoritative managing is as predictable as ever in his lack of ideas and football guile. Come on Mark you can moan with the best of them time to pull your finger out and start earning your money.
Re: BARROW v Crawley match thread
Given what was available today what options did he have? Id have started with kay and white, but not really many options, especially up frontmulholland wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 7:07 pm Had, previously, a lot of respect for Cooper. We have had more possession of the ball in most games this season, today included. In many games we've had more chances than the opposition, today included. The difference is in not taking chances. We have a midfielder as top goal scorer and at least two of those have been penalties.....does it need spelling out?

First of all, "Zinzala"
Secondly, we'd be sat with the likes of Carlisle and Scunny if Dunn or Jolley were in charge. FGR under Cooper, with their superior resources struggled in their first season in this League. Yet they steadily improved year on year and that provided the platform for where they are now. We were crying out for an experienced head last summer to take us through a couple of challenging seasons, we've got one now albeit a year later than we should have. There's enough in Cooper's managerial career to believe that given time things will improve, but we will have to take rough patches like this on the chin.

Still think with the right type of forward alongside Zanzala he could come good, but saying that he wouldn’t get a look in as Gordon’s work rate for me all day long.

You're right Jonty but we hardly get any player's in the box no wonder we don't score many Banks and Jones were far too deep and gotts had no front runners to pass to !, there's no energy and up front the quality we have is nowhere near what's required ,and how are we going to ship people out who'd want them and they're all under contract, our recruitment leaves a lot to be desired we obviously don't check previous records in goalscoring and if they're injury prone etc ,we have a squad where you could lose at least six because they're that poor this team are no where near where we were 2 years ago, sad to say, I fear we're going to go down unless the players, manager and directors have a proper discussion on how this season is going!Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 7:26 pm We have had more possession of the ball in most games this season, today included. Agreed. Quite happy with Cooper and IMO he is the man to take us forward albeit a bit rocky along the way.

Re: BARROW v Crawley match thread
The Club can`t just get rid of players who are on Contracts some here till summer 2023 we can send Arthur back to Hull but where do the rest go unless we pay off contracts, and the way we are playing who would want any of our players, like many have said hopefully at the end of the season two teams are below us. 7 league games without a win and many hard games up to the new year the pressure would be on the board and cooper, can`t see the manager resigning from his job so another massive payout to remove him.

Did you put your application in for the job when it was available? No I didn’t think so. Crikey, it’s like listening to Ron Manager… Oh, those Brazilians, you know? Circa 1970? Broke the mould. Theory out the window. Free expression of football. Uncategorisable. Is that a word? It is now! You know? Far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Rush goalie. Two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one's gone home for his tea. Beans on toast? Possibly, don't quote me on that. Re: BARROW v Crawley match thread
Dunn's lot played better football than this shower !
Re: BARROW v Crawley match thread
Bit ironic really, when Mark Cooper was complaining about the number of players on the injury list, and the same bunch playing week in week out, we probably played some of our best football, since hes got players back, and hes been able to tinker, the performances have gone right down hill.
