Re: RC on DAB
If Carlisle are getting Freeview and FM the are obviously getting the F-ing best deal.
Re: RC on DAB
BBC Radio Northampton will only be available on Freeview via their local transmitter at Sandy HeathJim wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:18 am Though we have been disenfranchised by Radio Carlisle, we may get some of our away matches on Freeview. This is a list of staions:

It will be interesting to see if it is on Radio Northampton on 18th December.
We will miss Adam's commentary of course.

Re: RC on DAB
AM, FM, DAB, DAB+, Freeview.........once you cross the border it's iFollow or nowt!
Don't let the old man in.
Re: RC on DAB
Bit of technical know how and DAB+ is you uncle, but not for all transmitters, looks an expensive option;
https://blog.teufelaudio.com/dab-digital-radio-2/
Some radios can be upgraded to DAB + by a software download via a computer.
Google is your friend sometimes.
Cheapest DAB+ radio at the minute is around £30 if Santa has enough.

Re: RC on DAB
Asda sell one at £20.
No idea how effective it is.
BTW - DAB radios have a reputation of being heavy on battery use.

Re: RC on DAB
Freeview works the same way as radio does - if you live in that area you’ll receive it so we get Cumbria, Lancashire and I think Newcastle - you wouldn’t get Northampton unless you live near thereJim wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:18 am Though we have been disenfranchised by Radio Carlisle, we may get some of our away matches on Freeview. And massive over reaction saying you’ve been “disenfranchised” I’d be out of a job if that was the case
Added to the fact our Sport Show tomorrow (1hr long)
Features a 7min long interview with Mark Cooper
And my interview I did with Paul Hornby this morning which is timed at 33mins
40mins of an hours show dedicated to barrow
Re: RC on DAB
Of course, it is only in relation to live commentary. We were originally disenfranchised by EFL who prevent local radio from broadcasting commentary online, but now Radio C have decided to switch Freeview commentray to Carlisle games, therefore some Barrow fans who could previously listen to commentary on RC can no longer do so. Judging by comments on here regarding DAB reception in south of the Radio C area, it isn't just me.
Perhaps Radio C could explain the logic behind the decision to switch Freeview access to Carlisle games and put Barrow games on DAB? Clearly, it seems that Freeview has wider coverage, as I can receive it in Teesside.

Re: RC on DAB
Up until last season Carlisle were always on Freeview
More people now a days are listening to DAB over actual FM so decision was made based on giving supporters the chance to listen to a clearer audio.
Carlisle fans complain that we are all barrow
Barrow fans complain that we are all Carlisle
No matter what decision we made on the matter it would have been the wrong one

Same.BBC shouldn’t be conning people into buying them. Crap reception around the town center especially. BBC been banging on about DAB for around 15years still poor reception or non existent !saltcellar wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 6:09 pm I have a DAB+ & FM Radio but can't access Radio Cumbria on it.

I live in Pocklington in Yorkshire. If I have a BAB+ radio does this mean I can pick up radio Cumbria ?.
