Third televised cup game in one season. Astonishing. Just like buses you are wait for years and then three come along at one.

I’d forgotten that. Amazing how these fixtures are falling for us though whether we end up playing Premier, Championship, League One or non league opposition

However I cannot imagine even the most flakey of TV producers getting excited over the prospect of a juicy fixture at Barnsley - irrespective of whether the opposition is Barrow or Ipswich. That one will get 20 seconds on the 3rd Round FACup TV roundup.

Better than a poke in the eye- this was the equivalent to 4 home game gate receipts in the not too distant past. And if we get through, Barnsley is not too far and we would take a decent following there.

Hi Guys….thought I’d stick my two penneth in. Not sure how we will play, poss 4-4-2 and whether we will play with part U23s and part first team. That’s no disrespect to you. Remember we have 28,000 turning up at Portman Road for the visit of Sunderland, so we might be keeping one or two fresh for that. It’s a long haul for a Weds night, not overly sure how many Town fans will turn up. They will make themselves heard. I’ll be in front of the TV. I’m too old and miserable for that journey.

Ipswich u/23 game at Bristol City on Tuesday postponed so could well be playing some young lads in the replay.

McGreal who is caretaker manager is also they guy in charge of the u-23 side that could also have something to do with the postponement

Big Strap line in the Ipswich Evening Star reads "McGreal: No excuse not to beat Barrow." Amusingly this is followed by a whole set of potential excuses why they might not beat Barrow (Wind, Rain, Distance, Pitch) - just in case. Nobody gives us much chance in these parts, though I wouldn't describe the mood at Portman Road currently as "enthusiastic". Think Pigott will play and he needs stopping. Their captain Sam Morsey needs watching in midfield - most of any Ipswich counters will involve him. I really think Connor Brown needs to play and man mark (and I mean mark) Connor Chaplin. Chaplin has a fiery temperament and nearly got himself sent off at the weekend. If he's throwing punches his talent wont count for much. I also think Norwood will play a part. McGreal seems to like him. Cook did not.

Ipswich should probably win. However it does depend on which Ipswich turns up. We do have a chance. They may be a sleeping giant but their current squad is no better than their current position. Also, their squad is a young one and their heads tend do go down when things get tough.

Anyone looking for a good looking stat need look no further than the Tractor Boys. They own some of the wierdest. Here's one for the hopefuls. Since 2014, Ipswich have appeared on mainstream TV a total of 33 times. Of those hey have won 3, drawing 10 and losing 20. They don't seem to like the cameras.

I am glad to see a post. I was beginning to think nobody was interested in tonight's match - no specualtion, score forecasts, preferred team selections etc! Anyway, I am looking forward to the game and think we have a chance. I think the first goal will be decisive, we need to make sure they don't score first. A mazy dribble from Zanzala and a cool finish may be all it takes.

Sb's suggestion of Brown marking this Chaplin fella sounds a bit scary though! Any bets on a red card?

As an incentive, the prospect of s 3rd round tie at Barnsley isn't the most exciting, I do think that if we can win tonight we may even have a chance to get to the 4th round for the first time in our history. I reckon Barnsley are there for the taking, as they say! ;)

Connor Brown just needs to make sure Chaplin throws the first punch, Jim. :D
