Correct, he's not.

Quick summary as far as I could tell at the time. (Please PM me if you can evidence any errors.)

So he was OK when Evatt was here but not now ?

Why we've a budget you see what players we need then you fit them in in to suit can't believe it's as complicated as people make out !

As a group they’d be a reasonable bunch were it not some key weaknesses. That’s why Zanzala is such a huge mistake. He’s clearly not a MC type of player. He belongs somewhere else……anywhere else.
Agreed, which is why I was surprised that you thought my forecast many moons ago of us being in the bottom 6 was completely unrealistic. I'd be overjoyed now with a position 6th from bottom!

I very much suspect that Evatt recuited most of the players he brought in. Certainly when he first moved to Bolton, he recruited players which he must have seen when managing Barrow i.e. Tom White, Santos from Barnet, Gordon from Dagenham and subsequently Joel Dixon. I expect most of the managers who followed also had a large say in who was recruited although as we changed managers so often most would be stuck with players they didn't sign.

Is that not what Mark Hetherington does?
I don’t know. I know he is helping out but not sure if the role is official / on the payroll or temporary, or if he reports into the CEO. I don't know the structure of the club.

Like I posted earlier According to an interview with Paul Hornby around mid September Mark Hetherington agreed to come back and head up a project to look at improving the clubs training infrastructure for the medium and long term future.
As for reporting to the CEO not a chance.

You have a memory like an elephant Russ! And your prediction is looking pretty accurate so far.

My mistake was to ignore my own scepticism and forget that with BAFC the difference between what turns out to be acceptable and what ends up looking very poor is wafer thin.

I still think the basic elements are better than this time last year both on and off the field but our status as an EFL club still looks uncomfortably fragile.

Well that’s good. As Mark H says in those programme notes- not one for titles and the role is broad and varies club to club. However feels like a position that we needed to have to allow MC to focus fully on managing the side

Wtf. This is a man who knows the club and town, local community and coached all his life. Nige I'm in agreement. Tictactoe I really don't see sense in your post. Just my opinion. Mark did and continues to work hard for the club.

I just think at league 2 national league, unless you have Wrexham/Stockport budgets you're limited financially so Mark would only need to liaise with Manager to discuss budgets and the positions/ players that are needed ,then work from there, I don't believe that he wouldn't have knowledge of how it all works !
I don't think as a club we need to spend money on someone when we could use that on a player.
My decision is based on finances that club's at our level have to be careful with and I'm sure our board will surely recruit better having their fingers burnt on numerous occasions!
