Well, it would be nice to think that they "turn up", sooner rather than later, for obvious reasons!.
Well, quite.

Every club would want players in as soon as possible. Doesn’t happen. Look at how many players move at the end of the summer window - i’m sure managers would rather have them in for a full pre-season etc.

It’s how things are.

Much more likely to get a higher standard of Under 23 player if you waited till the end of the month. At the moment clubs need them as covid cover, in a few weeks when things have calmed down they will be more amicable to letting them go out on loan for the rest of the season

I think the comment was “maybe as early as Tuesday” Pedro. Nothing definite.

Paul Hornbys interview withAdam from December 2nd. Listen from 7:30 in he explains all about the January window what the club have been doing and he said he would be very surprised if we do not bring somebody in during the first week of the window.

Carlisle already signed a player from Altrincham a couple of days ago.

It's happening for a good number of clubs in our league! Stevenage have already signed 3 players, Harrogate 2 plus 1 each for Scun*horpe, Port Vale, Bristol Rovers, Walsall, Swindon, Bradford and Carlisle.

But are they any good ? Plus we signed a full back from Alty last season who many (not me) consider short of L2 standard. Not wanting to rain on anyones parade but took some notice of Richard Drydens' post-match interview at the weekend. He mentioned the return of Beadling and Sea, Nthle returning to contact training this week plus Devitt had been joining in 5-a-sides. No mention of Williams who can't be far off. Given these five have contributed almost nothing to the season so far their return would be akin to five new signings. Just saying.

I think this might have a lot to do with the slow start to the window. If clubs are being encouraged to use youngster to plug holes to get games on, it makes perfect sense that those same players won't be allowed out on loan or for transfer at the moment.

Depends on whether their managers are any good. Given the injury track records of Devitt and Nthle, I wouldn't bet on either of them managing more than a couple of games before another long spell on the injury list.

You’d better tell him then Russy lad because he said what I said he said.

“On a number of our targets we have been told to wait until the end of January which we really can’t do.”

Would folk rather we sign who we want or sign whoever is available right now. I know what my choice would be but it’s all about opinions.

I agree BUT would we then later on get "well we couldn't get our targets because.................! " ?

Obviously be nice to see an addition or two asap but as long as they come in soon. I agree players coming back from injury will boost squad but how many times do they get injured? Just that goal poaching player would make a massive difference to our league position

I can understand that, to a degree…but, I’m not sure how Devitt will force his way into the side with better players in front of him. Nthle is just going to struggle to string together half a dozen games going on his recent history. Sea…not bad but with no other decent striker to play with him, is he the answer? Beadling was ok last season when he got going but again - where will he fit in? Williams, a good player but very similar to Gordon and James.
I don’t think them five returning are going to have the impact that one good striker would have on the team.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
