Lack of desire in our penalty area. Matt Platt coming in for some stinging criticism. Difference was centre backs who wanted to head the ball against those that didn't.
He is furious! Embarrassed. Let the fans down. Banks signed contract thinking what could be, after that must be wondering what he's done.
I think it was the centre backs (plural) he was angry with, although he did say something about players being out of contract this season needing to make more effrot to get a new contract.

Cant believe no ones mentioned Farman. Is he ever going to come out for a cross? 1st goal, lad headed it in from a yard out, Farman cud have even come for the ball at the flick on. 3rd goal, headed in on the 6 yard line from a slow ball he cud see coming the whole way. Anyone remember him coming to claim a cross under pressure the whole season? Nah, me neither

Platt must have had more touches than anyone else in a Barrow shirt. Got to stop this back-passing culture at home.

Losing against one of the form teams in the league might be forgivable if we had gone down fighting . . . but we didn't. Against 10 men, the lack of moral courage in trying to get forward and press with intensity (particularly in the second half) was abysmal. Hutton was the only one trying to go forward and take them on, for the rest it was sideways and backwards. Having said that, I'm not going to blame the forwards as it's not easy to do anything up front in a team that doesn't seem to want to go forwards. Bad, bad day that . . . but the sun will come up tomorrow won't it???

With a 2 - 1 lead and with 10 men, Mansfield decided to sit back, give us all the possession and see what Barrow had to offer. Nothing, as it turned out! We were devoid of ideas in the final third.
Back passing and side passing will get you nowhere. Zero penetration upfront.
Was looking forward to seeing what the 2 new young forwards could do, but they got no service.
Disappointing performance and to be frank, I get more enjoyment watching the Rugby at Craven Park.
I always come home happy, as they haven't lost a home game in 2 years - wish I could say the same for the Soccer. :(
PS: I was 1 minute late in getting into the ground and the fat lady was already singing the 1st verse...

We had the worst possible start against Mansfield, conceding a corner in less than 10 seconds as Oates quickly advanced from the free kick. From Quinn’s corner, Oates scored with only 35 seconds on the clock.

Poor defending from set pieces was the order of the day for all four goals.

In the 13th minute we had the ball in the net after a Gotts corner which White played back into the area, but a foul ruled the effort out.

However, 4 minutes later White was fouled and the Glennon free-kick was put out for a corner. This time it was Manfield’s turn to concede from a set piece as James Jones turned in Gotts’ corner.

A breakaway and shot by Oates following a Barrow corner tested Farman in the 24th minute. However, the resultant corner from Quinn was fired into the goal from the far-right side by McLaughlin to restore Mansfield’s lead.

On the half hour Bishop blocked a Brough cross and the game became feistier as Mansfield protected their goal advantage. First, White was booked for Barrow followed by Mansfield’s Rawson a minute later. The resultant Banks free kick was cleared for another Oates break and Stags corner.

In the 39th minute Rawson went in the book, 4 minutes after his first yellow, for a bad challenge on Luke James.

Two more Stags bookings (Quinn and McLaughlin), again both on James, followed in the final 5 minutes of the half.

With Mansfield down to 10 and two more on yellows, it appeared Barrow could find a way back into the game. The second half began with much Barrow possession and pressure as Mansfield sat back, but with no end result.

A rocket shot by Banks in the 58th minute flew wide of the left post, and a Brough cross was punched away by Bishop two minutes later.

However, in the 67th minute, Banks was booked for a foul. From the free kick, McLaughlin crossed to Bowery who too easily headed in past Farman for 3-1. Another set piece poorly defended.

Devitt then replaced White. In the 72nd minute, the Stags’ Lapslie came on for Maris and Barrow made the final two changes, Kay and Wakeling for Gotts and James.

Mansfield nearly punished our tendency to dwell on the ball and sideways pass from goal kicks on two or three occasions. When we did go forward, we couldn’t get the final ball right. In the 78th minute a Kay cross along the goal line was saved.

As Akins and Charsley came on for Oates and Quinn, Mansfield’s fresh legs soon nullified even that threat. Kay was booked for a foul on Charsley in the 85th minute.

In the final minutes both Brough and Platt (who headed just over the bar) came close as we made one final push but the score remained 3-1. Hutton was awarded Barrow’s man of the match and attendance was 3,224 with 358 visiting fans.

A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma we most definitely are not..to quote Churchill. If you don't shoot you won't score. Simple game at times.

Unless we start learning to defend set pieces, not shy away from heading the ball when a corner is coming in and learn to pass more accurately we are not going to climb this league.
We were bullied by Mansfield today. To let a goal in when the game was seconds old is something that should not happen. Some of our players need to sharpen up otherwise they won,t have a club to play for next season. We were just not good enough today.

Farman is a great shot stopper with a long kick. He isn't a brave keeper and he won't go where he might get hurt hence he stays on his line.

Finishing the game with platt upfront after signing 2 strikers is ridiculous. The Mansfield forwards showed whats needed at this level. They are a big, physical direct side and their front two bullied us, we had no answer given the academy nature of our squad. Too lightweight! Cooper was right about the defending platt and Jones were shocking today.

The amount of times again we could have put a ball in the box only to retreat was beyond a joke, you don't score unless you put the ball somewhere near the goal.

Final one for the club, before someone gets seriously injured/ hurt please sort the stewarding out on exit of the popular side. Having the southwards food trailer exiting the gane at the final whistle was absolute madness, an old guy nearly got caught between a parked car and the trailer.

To the driver of the said food van, you're an absolute fool! The minute you saw the crowd you should have waited, attempting to drive that van in a crowd of over a thousand people in a tight badly lit space, you're very lucky the old man managed to narrowly find a gap. between the parked cars. What happened to holding back the cars ?

Its embarrassing how much he actually shys away from coming for crosses. If i was those centre halfs id be right onto him. He shid have came for those crosses, but he hasnt all season. Dixon would of, says it all really

Yes - mentioned about three times having centre backs in excess of 6ft tall - one 6ft 5" and none of them would jump up to head the ball.

He said that usually he will take the blame for the whole of the team but he said he wouldn't this week.

Not a happy bunny!

Does he?! Can't recall him ever taking the blame, it's always someone else's fault

If Farman hadn’t turned that shot around for the corner (that led to their goal) it would’ve been 0-1 in 10 seconds because that was going in. An early early warning and they still concede a totally soft goal within seconds.
Down to ten men for 50+ minutes and I don’t think we tested their keeper once, but we aren’t going to by passing the ball sideways for most of the match.
I fully expected to get nothing from this game but I had hoped/expected a bit of…something, anything.
Re-the booing, not something I’d do but it was totally understandable after people had paid good money and then witnessed that.
Next game is now a massive one, who will react more positively to the loss today, us or Salford…I don’t hold out much hope it’ll be us.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
