Yep not prolific prior to coming here but neither was Rooney, Evatt got the best out of them both

My query for Pedro, following his rubbishing of Holloway by drawing attention to his goal scoring record without having seen him play (I guess) was how many assists has he made. If it’s lots then we can be hopeful. If not many, not so hopeful perhaps. As you say though, let’s see how he does for us, and support him in his efforts, rather than be negative from the off.

The problem is that we don't! As somebody (I think it was boyliegladbach) posted we don't have anybody who can unlock a defence with a forward pass when we play Banks, Beadling and White in midfield. Hopefully, Rooney will help in that area. I actually think White does his job well in that he finds space well to receive a pass and is neat and tidy with his passing but it is invariably sideways and backwards. I'd hope that Beadling would be the one replaced by Rooney and, if Gotts can return to the player he looked when he first arrived, then he would be a strong contender for a spot also.

Agreed that no one is making chances for themselves or others. Up to now (this season) the ball is rarely played forward at any pace. I agree it’s easier to write about here than to do it. Well organised defences are difficult to penetrate in this league, even more than NL. The other options are lump it forward (e.g. Paul Cox and some of the troglodytes in the stand “get the bloody thing forward”), or get it wide and towards the line and cross. Hutton our best option in that regard so far. Will be fascinating to see if Rooney can unlock things.

It was indeed. He also got his header on target in the first half. Although it went staright at the keeper, the event was nevertheless a bit of a rarity!

There was a Signal in Coopers interview last weekend that a couple of new signings would provide a breath of fresh air into the team. John Rooney re-signing for us could either be a masterstroke by the board, Oral B a big mistake.
I hope he still has the ring of confidence to create and score.

His 1st season was pretty average, he was 50/50 on being retained if i remember correctly. Certainly kicked on in his 2nd and his 1st with the other lot - lets hope we can get the latter Rooney back
