I’m not happy with our position but the thing is we can all agree on, even though we look like we aren’t going to score is ever single one of the players is playing for the shirt and working their nuts off! Rooney has that quality but over 90 minutes consistently is he good enough for league 2! I don’t think he is, I think Gotts is wasted in the a right wing back role I’d swap him for Ronny (bench) and play him as a 10 and play when Stevens slash Gordon again when fit? Every game we play stinks of a 0-0, I had my doubts about Farman but he’s been immense the last few games as has Canavan and Platt deserves credit for coming back into the team! Brough is our best player goes about his business 8/10 every game his consistency levels are a joke!

A few reflections on today’s match, which I enjoyed more than I expected. Both teams had chances to win it - Holloway should have put that header in the bottom corner and probably would have done if he wasn’t a bit rusty after missing 3 games (but you can see what he can add to the team if he gets a decent run). Farman’s save in the first couple of minutes was excellent - he has been very good recently.
In the first in particular we looked the better team and had good spells of control - we just have to do more to turn it into goals. I am worried about losing Banks to another suspension but it is probably inevitable - but if Stevens is back, with White and Rooney, we should be OK.
No question about the players’ commitment - they are working hard and the fans acknowledged that at the end. Great Barrow attendance - over 600 away is great, given where we are. Not a very good home crowd - can’t imagine what they were doing in League 1 (getting relegated I guess…)

Next season I would agree. This season he has to start, he’s one of the only players we have who’s not afraid to shoot and as we all know he can score a goal out of nothing. He also shows leadership in there, encourages the lads on etc which we need, we are a very quiet team in general
And he’ll be needed to start regardless once Banks gets yet another suspension for a ridiculous amount of yellow cards this season

Must win game on Tuesday and the Carlisle game anything could happen. What ever it is still looking forward to getting to go to my first game of the season against Leyton Orient. I have always thought we would have enough to stay up but after going yesterday my optimism is beginning to reduce. For the last few games Farman has had to play very well and we have stopped creating as many chances as we were, only one clear cut chance that Holloway missed. We weren't scoring goals after creating a handful of chances so it's difficult to see how we'll win games when not creating. Plus, our luck has definitely gone atm, Banks header coming back off the underside of the crossbar and bouncing clear sums it up.

The effort was there, defensively sound and nice in midfield however up the top is once again where we are lacking, a mixture of Cooper's tactics and poor quality forwards is our undoing.

With Holloway back I was hoping to see him alongside Gordon which was disappointing, even more so when he didn't come off the bench!

I thought Gotts had a great game yesterday, as did Farman - once again. He received a fair bit of stick earlier in the season (unjustified in some cases) so I’m glad to see him winning people over now. Canavan, Platt, Broughy & Rooney are also worthy of mentions…thinking back on it, the team overall did very well but it’s just so uninspiring up top.
I’m actually at the point where I’m feeling good about a draw because I just can’t see where a win will come from.

Looking back we should’ve told quigley to pipe down and play out his contract. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

I agree he's been a huge miss as most people thought he would be but I don't think keeping a player who didn't want to be here would've helped. We wouldn't have got the best from him and it wouldn't have done much for team spirit with an unhappy player in there.
It made sense to cash in too financially.
The only problem has been Zanzala never lived up to expectations and we've tried a few other forwards but none have been able to replace him. That has to be priority in the summer, not easy to find prolific 6ft+ strikers though there aren't many about and they don't come cheap. Hopefully by then we're still a football league club and able to get a good one in.
