Probably Brown's was equally deserved.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:20 pmTo be fair Beadlings booking was one he got correct. He went clean through the back of the Salford player yellow card all day long.bamber678 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:17 pm
Not sure what second half referee he was watching but every time a Salford player got approached by one of our lads they fell over screaming and got a free kick. Was giving cards out to barrow players for fun all game, even booked beadling for winning the ball in the first half! Officials were poor overall but they still definitely favoured Salford
They were the only two I recall. Hardly 'giving cards out for fun'!

He accepted Brough being sent off rather than the goal being given.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:58 pmIn the interview the manager seems to accept that potential outcome.
He said if it's a penalty then at least Farman had a chance to save it.

Well done the Young Team from our support especially but brilliant all round.
Game a bit of an arm wrestle that we edged.
2 games. 6 goals. 4 points.

Would it not have been ball to hand? Couldn’t see it clearly but did he move his hand out of the natural silhouette?saltcellar wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 9:28 pmHe accepted Brough being sent off rather than the goal being given.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:58 pm

If we do offer him a deal I would much rather it be for one year, but no doubt his agent will sweet-talk the board as all the previous ones have done.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:22 pmNot all of us; I still very much hope we don’t get sucked into giving him a 2/3 year deal off the back of these two (fantastic and well deserved) results, although I suspect that has always been the plan if we stayed up

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. 4 points out of15. A long way to go yet .
Re: Salford v Barrow match thread
I’m not convinced that ball crossed the line for their second. As for handball incident ? What/when?, was it a clear goal scoring opportunity denied (hence his red card shout?) I don’t recall it. Don’t recall anyone around me at the time saying we got away with one there?

As the ball apparently was crossing the line for Salford's second.Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:08 pm I’m not convinced that ball crossed the line for their second. As for handball incident ? Matt Dodds ‘inside barrow’ footage will clearly show the handball.Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:08 pm I’m not convinced that ball crossed the line for their second. As for handball incident ? Referee himself saw the handball but gave the goal based on guess work
Re: Salford v Barrow match thread
Got ya. I couldn’t see from where I was stood and thought he had cleared it with his foot or his knee and I couldn’t see it from the highlights. Ok understood. I was thinking what handball??

I thought he gave it because the linesman flagged, rightly or wrongly.Adam29 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:16 pmReferee himself saw the handball but gave the goal based on guess workJonty wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:08 pm I’m not convinced that ball crossed the line for their second. Watched it on the EFL show. Farman coming and not gathering the biggest issue as it felt at the time. I think Mansfield have a bigger issue about no goal line technology.
Still a good performance and result. Onwards and upwards.

Re: Salford v Barrow match thread
If the referee thought he was somehow doing us a favour by giving the goal without being sure that the ball had crossed the line rather than bring it back for a handball give the penalty and possibly a red card then that would be quite odd. Offsetting one offence against the other in any way would not be acceptable by the rules.
Farman did make a meal of the cross and should've punched rather than tried to save. But to be honest, Salford were all over us like a rash by this point and the fatigue of the last couple of games was clearly showing.
All in all the attitude of the team was fantastic. Salford tried to slow the tempo of the game down from the start and sap the enthusiasm out of us. Their first goal lulled them into a false sense of security and allowed us back into the game. Browns substitutions were the catalyst and very nearly cost Salford the game. Only when they conceded the second time did they wake up. Defence dealt with Smith well all game but we still left far too much space in central positions outside the penalty area allowing Salford to get off shots and despite the wicked deflection that was what cost us their first goal. We on the other hand were getting into great attacking positions down one flank particularly in the first half with Hutton and Kay but with no outlet in the centre. Support was terrific as usual. Word for Connor Brown also. Have never seen a player look so shattered when hauled off late in the second half. Rooney was again pivotal.
Today proved that Friday was not just a statistical blip. Even if we are experiencing a bounce rather than a resurrection on the evidence of today there still looks to be some mileage left in our improvement. This is where Phil Brown likes to be and probably operates at his best which bodes well.
Oldhams loss at FGR was a little easier than I expected though another penalty miss denied them a barnstorming finish. Stevenages failure to beat Scunny was also a surprise and despite a three game run against pretty mediocre opposition they surprisingly find themselves still behind us on GD.
We dont traditionally do particularly well over the Easter period and many Easters have been the precursor to frantic battles against relegation in my time. This one however has been a very pleasant surprise. We seem to have moved from fading hope to real expectation which tells us what a strange League this is. Still a way to go though.
