I’d be happy enough with Quigs back as long as we don’t pay for him and depending what system we are going to be playing.
Look at Rooney for example, his goals and assists kept us up but he couldn’t get in the Stockport team because they signed a player we never could afford

I get where you`re coming from but sometimes, we`ll have to pay to bring in quality, because we have to start competing (within reason) if we are to progress we need to break this cycle of being down the bottom or we`ll lose the "new" fans we now have !

The Derbyshire Times have done an article on 17 NL players who have impressed against Chesterfield this season;- If you ignore anyone at Stockport or Wrexham and anyone over 30 the stand out names are;-

Josh Kelly a 23 yr old striker at Maidenhead - described as a Jamie Vardy type player who will attract interest this summer (17 goals this season)
John McAtee a 22yr old striker at Grimsby - again described as pacy (14 goals last season)
Joe Sbarra - already mentioned by others on here - 23yr old rapid, direct and 18 goals from midfield this season for Solihull.
Matty warburton a 29yr old attacking midfielder at Halifax - 13 goals so far in the NL this season
Harry Boyes 20 yr old wing back who was at loan from Sheff United to Solihull this season - expected to be loaned to an EFL club next season.

The obsession, if that’s what it is, with ex players is that they are known quality who are more likely to reproduce the goods, perfectly evidenced with Rooney’s return. Quigley coming back is not a big gamble, if he fires he gives us a couple of seasons to find another “Quigley”. It’s definitely a safer bet than bringing in an unknown entity who has been released.

Apparently Bristol Rovers have released 13 players and they got promoted. Such a shame we have so many players on long term contracts. If a club that gets promoted is making huge changes, imagine how many a side like ours needs to make, to be competitive next season.

Of course a team that gets promoted is cutting players - they're going to need better players in the league above!

Plus Bristol Rovers had a huge squad with players left over from previous managers, and only one player released was a regular in the first-team, but he's retiring.

I think the problem Barrow have as a club is that it is having to compete with clubs who have owners who have millionaire owners who for them £250000 is nothing when it comes to signing a player.These clubs are buying success and it's not a level playing field out there.Some if these clubs will go to the wall eventually,because of their spending.
You cannot have a situation where a club is allowed to poach a player or manager who is still under contract to their parent club just because they offer a wad of money.Rules need to be put in place whereby employees of the club have to work a set amount of notice as applies in industry and where a player thows a strop and refuses to play,because they want to move to club which is trying to poach them,the parent club should stop paying their wages as they have breached the terms of their contract.
With proper rules in place it might bring an end the situation where a lot of clubs are living above their means and end up going bankrupt and create a more level playing field for all lower league clubs,who might have a decent side and find their best players being poached at the start of a season and ending up in a similar situation as Barrow when we came back into the EFL with no manager with all the instability it created,a situation we have still not fully recovered from and we are about to start a third season in the EFL.

Would what you suggest not be a restraint upon trade?

Would not paying a player who is refusing to play also be a breach of contract?

(I don't know the answer to these questions, by the way. Perhaps there is a contract lawyer on here who could advise us of the feasibility of such rules?)
