Surely it’s all about building fitness levels team togetherness and momentum going into the start of the season. Pretty sure there will be a couple of sterner tests closer to the league starting.
Looks like South Shields are building a squad capable of giving their league a real go this season.

Starting with Non-League opposition seems sensible to build understanding, fitness and a style of play. Two July Saturdays and Tuesdays/Wednesdays still available.

Note that all announced so far are away; perhaps our home will have work under way at this time?

I'm sorry but that's just not good enough, you need tough challenging games, these teams won't prepare us for league 2 another f*** up !
You can please some of the people all of the time and
all of the people some of the time but some people never!
So your happy playing these teams? Kieran mentioned our ,,"non league mentality "!, you're living proof !

Surely it is the custom to visit away grounds of teams of a lower standard, and to have your sterner tests at home.

As has been pointed out the lack of home friendlies may be due to the pitch being relaid.

This is what all clubs do; nothing different this year.

These early friendlies are nothing more than "get fit/training " matches.

"Tougher" games will come towards the end of pre-season

Patience bluebirds.

Getting a feeling a bit like 1966/7 lets wait and see

I like the look of the friendlies so far, playing a few tinpot (apart from Holker) outfits away where we should be winning by 5 or 6, get those strikers in amongst the goals early to build their confidence.
Popular side since '03.

This is more like it , we need tough games to see where we`re at pointless playing teams too far below and usually end up being counter productive!

South Shields has been changed to a 14:00 k.o. on the Barrow website.

Also same on South Shields website.

I can’t remember a pre-season where we’ve ever faced two sides we’ll be playing in the season. Salford in the league - Fleetwood in the Cup.

Do season ticket holders still get in for zippo for the Holker street friendlies?
