Dixon return ?

Post by LCBAFC40 » Sun Jun 12, 2022 3:25 pm

Rumour going around Bolton is they are trying to keep the Man City keeper on loan from last season so Dixon might be coming back to Barrow ?

so that means another high wage earner not going to play, we haven't got that type of money to spare, we need to spend it on another outfield player!

Don't expect Dixon to return unless you are going to replace the highest wage earner. Can't see that happening. Personally I can't split the ability of these two keepers. Good shot stoppers but don't command their areas.

We got rid of one high age earner get rid of another in Farman. Dixon all round is better than Farman IMO and a few years younger.

Might as well sign Sam Johnson from Halifax.
6ft 7 inches and kept 19 clean sheets (just under 50%) for Halifax last season.

I don't think there's any real difference between Farms and Dixon, they may have different strengths and weaknesses, but it seems to me a lot of people are expecting every keeper in the EFL to be De Gea, Allison and Ederson...there's a reason why keepers aren't in Premier league or championship squads, because they have weaknesses and aren't consistent, Joel improved a hell of a lot in his time with us, but still made mistakes, Farms has made a few mistakes (Harrogate away) but I don't have the same worries as I used too with dixon, even in our promotion season I wasn't keen on Dixon claiming balls in the box as in previous seasons he made clangers, but that's the life of a lower league goalkeeper, people who've never played the position don't understand
Heaven is a place on earth, we prefer to call it Holker Street :scarf: popular side since 2002! :scarf:

I know Wild wants to have two players competing for every position but on the face of it both Farman and Dixon would be regarded as first choice keepers at this level. That being the case, unless Farman - as the incumbent keeper - was seen as either deficient or on his way out of the club for some reason, then why would you go to the expense of replicating him. One of the reasons that Farman left Carlisle in the first place was that there was real competition coming from Magnus Norman at the time.

It may well be Bolton might feel that offloading Dixon back to Barrow might be an acceptable solution to their retaining another keeper but I struggle to see why that would suit us.

Speaking of Carlisle, I think Howard their former keeper and player of the season would be a great signing.

Have to agree that you need someone who is not a replica of Farman. I expect the new management team will have one or two in mind.

Can hardly see Wild being desperate to sign Dixon, so who's this being driven by? Or wishful thinking by Bolton, desperate to offload one of their flops?
