Do 32 appearances in the Championship and League One for Bolton, Blackpool and Bury not count?
Don't let the old man in.

32 appearances! That's less than a season, and I'm not complaining don't know much about our new manager just hoping he's good at recognising players from lower leagues that can make it in league 2 , wish him all the best 👍

If you are a building a genuine squad of 25 then not every player will have loads of League 1 or 2 experience. Maher seems highly rated and it seems plenty of other EFL clubs were chasing him (Cowps knows why basket case club Oldham thought they would get him if that’s true) Another leader at the back can’t do any harm; far too quiet back there last season

At last someone who realises its a big jump from national league to league 2 , I'm not saying don't buy anyone from non league but in my humble opinion we need a couple of decent league players, but I suppose finding them to come and play for us might be difficult being little old out of the way barrow as some people perceive us .

So what exactly is this big “jump” that we keep hearing about between League 2 and the NL? I’m not saying it doesn’t exist but it rarely gets defined by those that refer to it.

It cannot simply be the fact that players are better because they play in the League above otherwise the bulk of our remaining squad would automatically qualify as being better themselves and in relation to a decent NL side there’s not much evidence of this. Neither is fitness really an issue with full time squads.

I think Wild has taken a punt on this kid, a “Wild card” you might say. His career history is a little unusual or erratic as doubters will say, Woking are not the most fashionable of NL clubs at the moment and the Biggleswade/Woking connection reminds us perhaps of Inih Effiong who wasn’t a great success when at HS.

I totally agree with you Tomo. There's nothing wrong with asking these questions about the step up from the national league to league 2.
Personally, I have faith in Wildy and his ability to get the best out of the players that he's bringing in to the club in as far as competing in the EFL goes.

To me, there is a difference between league 2 and the National league. I thought quite a few of the teams that came to Holker Street last season looked a lot more physical, fitter and sharper than any team I have witnessed in the National league, and that includes Carlisle who were rubbish.

A lot on here forgetting we have one of the best defensive records in the league , we just couldn’t score goals… being very overdramatic about what we’ve already got.

Yep I thought fitness and physicality have been the two big things I have noticed in the EFL. Teams move the ball quicker and are more direct and take chances more clinically. Think we we’re guilty of overplaying it too many times last season and we never seemed to be able to put games to bed. FGR aside.

Very disappointed we didn't get Maher as I had hoped the Wild connection would make us favourites in a position we desperately need to strengthen. The strength of the Halifax team last season was in defence and this guy was in the NL team of the season and was captain. Great signing for Grimsby and having watched their play-off matches I'll be surprised if they don't have a very good season in EFL2. In McAtee, they have the most skilfull attacking player I've seen in the lower leagues since I saw Twine playing for Newport against us.

Yep I think Wild would have been in for him for sure, but there will be others.

That's because we played so defensively it was embarrassing!, how many times after home games did we nearly all complain about no shots ,nobody getting into the penalty area etc , our team (Cooper's) after starting promisingly he decided to go defensive so yes we did not concede many but our attacking side was woeful, we need to now get this balance right or we'll be back down the bottom again !
