Re: Pre-season Friendlies
I hang my head in shame. The great 31st July 2006 friendly. How could I forget?!
Don't let the old man in.
Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Currently Holker 0-2 Barrow with goals from Gordon Bennett.
Popular side since '03.

Re: Pre-season Friendlies
#19 Trialist looks good
Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Agreed.
Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Anyone know who it is? Chris on commentary said one of the trialists are only there to make up the numbers

What was the final score, please, and what are your first impressions of a Wild side.

Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Off to a winning start!
Goals from Gordon, Bennett and a Trialist secure the win here at Rakesmoor Lane.
Holker 1-3 Barrow

Re: Pre-season Friendlies
That strike off the trialist was fantastic and the lad from Woking looks a player, he was everywhere. Hutton had a great first half. We were at the other end of the pitch but their goal seemed a bit bizarre, I don’t know if it was meant to be a cross or keeper error.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 3:30 pm What was the final score, please, and what are your first impressions of a Wild side.
It looks like we’ll be relying on knock downs from Bennet for our small but nippy forwards in the coming season.
Great turnout so hopefully HOBs will have made a bit out of the day.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Any ideas on the trialists?

A game of two halves and two almost different lineups to give everyone a run out.
Thought the first half was definitely better football.

Re: Pre-season Friendlies
a good workout and 2 totally different Barrow sides in each half. Thoughts on the new guys and trialists;-
Solomon Nwabuokei looks a great signing - was all over the pitch getting involved and breaking up play.
Sam McClelland looks like a real player - confident, composed and a threat from corners.
Billy Waters good close control, had a couple of shots saved.
Richie Bennett - we know what he can do - and he did it - he gives an extra dimension in attack that we didn't have last season.
George Ray - good in the air composed on the ball. solid.
Tyrell Warren - solid enough performance, played at left back 2nd half, but is usually a right back.
Sam Foley - didn't notice him too much so can't really comment
the 3 triallists 14, 17 and 19;-
14 - didn't impress too much.
17 - i liked the look of - good hold up play and linked well with Waters and Stevens. (Max Riley - the announcer actually named him as the 1st half sub)
19 - in and out of the game a bit, but scored that screamer (Benni Smales-Braithwaite of Southampton according to MT on the EFL 2 forum)
