this season
Re: this season
Reckon we need another striker, Hopefully the Hutton cash will help this happen.
Loads of options in midfield already

Sounds confusing and corrupt. Hopefully they disappear off into the blockchain and are never heard from again.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:37 pm Crawley are doing something with bitcoin and NFT’s; they either get promoted or go bust

Bradford took a swerve on that last season, iirc.RedWeb wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 9:59 amSounds confusing and corrupt. Re: this season
Not especially excited about what we have done so far this pre-season. Fitness against the teams from lower leagues won’t be at the level required for the games against league2 opposition that will come at the start of the season. Wouldn’t it have been better to have more of a fitness challenge against higher opposition? The manager has already alluded to the fact that the majority or the preseason games were set before he came in. Reading into that, I wonder if he wanted some more challenging games in the buildup to the season?

Re: this season
Yes, I realise that, but has the “build-up process” not been too slow and will leave us “short” when the season arrives?

Re: this season
it seams similar to many other clubs in our league. South Shields are a full time professional team, so today will be a bigger test and get more fitness into the team.

Re: this season
Question answered by Pete Wild in the latest update.
And no, moribund, I am not new to football as you put it, although I obviously haven’t the same level of knowledge that you have….. but asked the question after listening to an earlier statement from Pete in the interviews. Despite what you have said, everyone has not been playing non league nobodies and kids teams. Even the “kids teams” are at their clubs because of their football ability and as such are likely to have a higher state of fitness than some of the part time teams we have played before today.

Re: this season
I understood that at least some of them might be coming up on a Friday before a home game to do some 'bonding' with the people - school visits etc.behind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 6:51 pm What is the arrangement before home Saturday games this season will the team be stopping over night in town, with the Dunes Hotel not sponsoring this season what have the Club sorted out or will the team just travel up on Saturday Morning to save some money.

Re: this season
Why would the Dunes not sponsoring us stop the players stopping over on a Friday before a home game.? It’s something we have done for the last three seasons and a page advert in the programme aside last season was the only season they have been a main sponsor by way of ground sponsorshipbehind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 6:51 pm What is the arrangement before home Saturday games this season will the team be stopping over night in town, with the Dunes Hotel not sponsoring this season what have the Club sorted out or will the team just travel up on Saturday Morning to save some money.

Re: this season
If most of the players are based in the Manchester area - I don’t really see much of an issue with them all travelling to Barrow on the morning of the match. It’s not as if they’d have to get up early. If they all aim to get to the ground by say 12 to allow for any possible travel hold ups- the club save themselves a small fortune on overnight accommodation costs and the players get to spend an extra night with their families. Let’s face it our home form last season wasn’t any better due to all those expensive overnights. The only downside I can see is if the A590 is ever blocked.behind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 8:57 pmThe Cost for 25 players plus manager/coaching personal it won`t be free it will have to be payed for.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 8:25 pm

Agree 12 home wins out of 46 in two seasons staying overnight complete waste of money.FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 8:59 amIf most of the players are based in the Manchester area - I don’t really see much of an issue with them all travelling to Barrow on the morning of the match.
