Canavan started at South Shields. Ellis came on later.

Can we not fabricate an EFL regulation to stop those things coming in, rather than making life difficult for teenagers?

Bennettt’s injury resulted from a needless challenge on Saturday at South Shields. With Rooney still recovering and Connor Brown still nursing his hernia operation that’s four out.

A good test for us. Defensive shape looks good when out of possession, nearest man pressing and getting results, forcing it back to keeper or a misplaced pass several times. Like to see that. Energy / fitness levels looking good. Pitch looking good apart from a few patches around the sprinklers. Looking flat and 25 yard passes zipping on the surface nicely with very little bobbling. Well done to the ground staff.

Enjoying this.

Well was enjoying it. Josh Gordon sent off 5mins into second half for a low challenge for what looked a fair 50:50 ball there to be won with both players committed to winning the ball with no malice. In fact they both went on for it from the same angle it not as if he went right through him.

0-1 great strike for the goal. Not much you can do about those one’s. Multiple changes and we’ve kept competing all half even when down to 10 so that’s a good sign.

Good goal but they are a dirty bunch. Foul after foul and then some Oscar worthy dramatics to get Gordon sent off. Could be a spicy affair in the Pizza cup.

Sounds like Fleetwood did not break a sweat .
First test against a team of similar standard and we get beat.
Injuries to Bennett,Rooney etc worrying.
Cannot understand bringing Jason I've no legs Taylor on when he will not be playing much but left other players on bench who would have benefitted from a run out.

Would you bring on Robbie Gotts the way Fleetwood were playing? Not worth the risk for further injuries

Fleetwood didn’t have to break a sweat because of us being down to 10men

Very harsh to pick out any problems from that game
