Great win from the lads, Stockport came out second half played ok but still lost, what a brilliant start to the season, but I can`t sleep because somebody has painted on a wall in the ground, might not go next week if it`s still there.

From what was posted on Twitter it turns out the TMF aren’t as hard as they are behind Perspex and a police barrier like are at holker street

A man was 'seriously assaulted' - and another attacked through a car window - outside Stockport County's ground. Officers policing the match between Stockport County FC and Barrow, which resulted in a 3-2 defeat for the home team, were made aware of an incident at 5.15pm today (Saturday) on Merican Way.

A man was found having been 'seriously' assaulted, police said. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and has been taken into custody.

GMP have since launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone who witnesses the incident to contact them immediately. No further details about the victim's condition have been released.

The club later released a statement saying another man had been assaulted through a car window.

Witnesses described seeing police and paramedics descend outside Edgeley Park shortly after the game concluded at around 5.10pm. One fan said he could see the man being tended to by paramedics as he and other members of the public were asked to evacuate the area by police.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 5.15pm officers policing the Stockport County game today became aware of a man seriously assaulted on Merican Way. A man in his 30s has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.

"Initial enquiries are ongoing and anyone who may have seen something is asked to contact us online via our LiveChat facility or by contacting us via 101 quoting incident 1300 of 30/07/2022."

County said in a statement: "The club is appealing for witnesses for two assaults following today’s fixture with Barrow. A man has been seriously assaulted on Mercian Way and another through the window of their car whilst driving out of Caroline Street onto Mercian Way.

"These incidents are appalling have no place at Stockport County or in society in general and any fans found to be involved will be subject to a lifetime ban. "

Does the same apply to to the fan assaulted in their car ? Let’s not pigeon hole everyone as a hooligan, embarrassed for you.

Every incident is different. Nothing was said about the car window on Twitter but the assault by the bus was.

Everything stems from somewhere. Pictures were posted pretty much straight after the incident. And then after Stockport posted the statement people were saying it was barrow on barrow. That’s the embarrassing part. What’s wrong with enjoying a football game and having a drink on the way home?

Everything I saw today was iniated by young "Barrow fans" either drunk or looking for trouble. Same ones that are glued to the barrier between home and away fans at Holker St
