Away tickets

Post by blue blue boy » Sun Aug 21, 2022 4:43 pm

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know why, when purchasing away tickets as I just have for Wimbledon next week, if you select to have the tickets posted to you it a)costs £1 per ticket to be posted to you (I bought a ticket for myself and my daughter, surely I would only have to pay one lot of postage same envelope and all that .. and yes before anyone says anything I know it's only a quid) but secondly, when you get your email confirmation the tickets are actually attached in pdf anyway so don't need posting out?
Not a gripe as such just wondered if other had experienced the same really as seems a bit of a strange set up

The pdf is not a ticket. It's just an auto-generated pdf from the ticketing website.

You need the actual ticket from AFC Wimbledon

Bought tickets online this morning.

Could not do it on a 'phone thus had to use a computer. I chose the postal option though even that is not straightforward as you seem to have to tick the collection/postal option if you want them posted. In other words, it appears to be the same thing.

Eventually sorted them out (more by luck than judgement) and have received an email with tickets attached (why does one need to pay for postage therefore?) and it actually states on both the respective tickets 'Present this ticket at the venue to gain entrance.....This ticket is valid for one entry only'. Seems pretty clear to me, though have learned over the years that any benefits that technology appears to bring to the actual consumer is purely coincidental and am not expecting an easy ride trying to get in to the ground on Saturday.

That link has not been updated, you have to go in via the specific news article referring to Wimbledon away tickets: https://www.barrowafc.com/news/2022/aug ... mbledon-a/

Never simple, is it?

If the pdf if a Barrow AFC branded piece of paper it is not your ticket to get into AFC Wimbledon.

Options on the website are collection or postage, not e-ticket.

This happened before Blackpool a few weeks ago with people thinking the same.

Looks pretty unequivocal to me; two different instructions on the pdf to 'present this ticket', barcode, ticket number and a whole bunch of T&Cs. Anyway, we'll see on Saturday. Though I'm sure a paper ticket will come winging its way thru' the post in the next couple of days.

First class must be on a go-slow as the tickets have not yet arrived through the letterbox. Royal Mail workers are on strike tomorrow too. Maybe they will arrive on Saturday.

Always have the .pdf though, as proof of purchase.

Mine arrived in Kent on Tuesday after buying it on Sunday.

Not sure why delivery is necessary though, presumably it's at Wimbledon's insistence. All the ticket is is a printed A4 sheet of paper that could have easily been sent as a PDF and presumably has just been printed from one so an e-ticket should have been fine. There's some weird and unnecessary ticketing arrangements in this league.

Aye, they sent a sheaf of about 4-500 A4 bits of paper. Very odd.

Every club is slightly different it seems. Could it possibly be that other football clubs have issues with ticketing and communications from time to time? Never catch on as an idea that!

It won't arrive today, there's a postal strike.
