Message received from my Doncaster mate at the end of the game:

You absolutely hammered us and should have won by 5 We were never in control Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Yes, Nick, a good lad that, probably one of a small minority from Premier-League land that I could have a lot of respect for. However, after watching our performance tonight (and particularly the second half) Marcus will have to be patient if he's joining us as he's going to be warming the bench.

Dreamland at the moment though only 8 games gone. Looking back to our promotion season of 1966-67 - and scaling up what was then 2 points for a win to the standard 3 points nowadays - we only had 13 points from our first 8 games back then compared to 18 this season. Back then we had registered 3 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat in our first eight matches. Spine-tingling.

. . . . . or, erm, even LAST night. Obviously haven't recovered yet! Mind you, I wouldn't mind last night continuing into today and a whole load of tomorrows as it was the end to what was pretty much the perfect day.

On current form they’d probably miss.

In the last couple of seasons we’d have pinched that first goal and tried to defend the rest of the game, not this team though….and that second goal, as good a passing move in the lead up as you’d see anywhere this week.

Whitfield, what were Stockport & Challinor thinking….? From that first game he’s been outstanding.

What an absolute pleasure it is to watch!
Yes, Ian, heartily concur with every word there.

The most amusing thing is that Stockport are still lower odds for promotion than we are!!
It’s great to be still flying under the radar somewhat.

FORZA BLUEBIRDS , What a fantastic start to the season , getting a nose bleed here we’re so high up in the league. A good result at Newport on Saturday will set us up nicely for Leyton Orient game. Bluebird per sempre.

There was one on radio Cumbria but it didn't come on until about well after 10pm. I don't know if radio Carlisle has difficulty getting a phone line to distant Furness or whether Pete Wild spends a long time in the dressing room before coming up to speak to Adam. They always seem to get hold of Paul Simpson pretty quickly, perhaps they grab him when he is coming off the pitch

Paul Simpsons interview was done by mobile phone which appears to be the case for after match interviews at Carlisle away games hence it’s quicker to get hold and interview
Adams are conducted face to face I presume in the press box possibly after he has done his club website interview. One thing I must add is that Adams interviews are always worth waiting for. He asks the questions the fans want to hear and always gets a straight answer from Pete Wild

I’ve really heard everything now
We speak to the manager as soon as they’re made available to us
Wild didn’t come across to me till after 10pm - not because of some “radio Carlisle” conspiracy
Simply because he speaks to local media, then sky before that he speaks to his players and the opposition manager

I left Holker Street yesterday after clapping Wild and the players off; Simpson was already talking by the time I got to the car. Perhaps it was just a case of Carlisle game finished earlier, so Simpson was back in the dressing room earlier and wanted to set off back from an away game earlier…..or it could be an anti Barrow bias yes
