Pete bad inherited a bottom 3 team low on confidence & he brought in several of his own players & atm we sit 11th.

Let’s give him enough time to see what works, what works occasionally & what doesn’t, It won’t happen over night as it takes time, We are on a terrible run atm & we are hurting as fans, Half of us got far too carried away by winning 7 out of 9 was it & now again over reacting with this slump.

PW pedigree in the game is good & he is highly regarded, Give the fella time to mould his troops & let’s see where we end up.

I also thought Pete Wild sounded a bit flustered in his interview.I just hope he has a solution that will turn this around.I also think that some of the players he has brought in are not up to league 2 standard. To day we seemed to be just off the pace and kept arriving too late to tap the crosses in.
We have to remember that these are full time players who are paid a good wage,so the supporters who showed their frustration today were justified. They follow this team through thick and thin and deserve better performances than this.
Tuesday nights game against Carlisle has now become a tuning point, because if the team doesn't turn up again the home supporters will.definitely show their frustration.

But a team that has won 3 out of the last 4
Also, a team that hadn't won at home in the league this season until today.

Both team and individual performances have dropped off. As has been said by others, our early success was mainly because of a high press where all our attacking players were putting pressure on opposing defenders. I've noticed in recent matches that only Gordon is doing that now which is useless because he is just running from one defender to another and they are passing around him. Nobody else is backing him up. When we were doing that our opponents couldn't get the ball to their attacking players easily but now they are. Also, because of the high press our midfield players could play higher and were winning the ball with time to do something with it. Now they are playing deeper and being hurried whenever they have the ball and our defenders are facing forwards who can run directly at them.
Individually, IMO, Whitfield has gone downhill since early season, Gotts is not playing as well as he was, Waters has been a big disappointment, Kay is not good enough and Moyo is worse. Only Gordon looks to have any danger but he no longer is getting any service, consequently we have no attacking threat.

Gone back to we needed a midfielder and striker pity we could not have got Quigley on loan or someone of his kind.
We let Rooney go for whatever reason and still need a striker.
Bennett may alter the pattern of play annoys me he was injured in a stupid friendly .
Need to start winning.

PW will be given time Mike, yesterdays performance was no where near good enough whether we had won 7 games or not.
Gazza made some really good points about support/money etc...
If the team gives 100% and we lose that's fine but yesterday we were miles off it against a bottom 2 team. (Rochdale now just 10pts) behind us.
We need to improve rapidly
When not in possession we are supposed to win it back quickly.
Well on yesterdays showing we dont have the ball much at all. Dominated by a poor team

Gazza wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 9:10 pm Poor again today despite still having a few half chances. Once again we’ve put balls across the 6 yard box and no one near to being on the end of them. First one they put across and it’s a tap in. I’m still happy we appointed PW and confident we will turn things round again. I was disappointed however at his radio interview today saying there’s no need for some supporters waving their arms at full time. Well, can we just remember that in the middle of a financial crisis another 571 supporters travelled and us adults paid £24 a ticket today. Add to that the cost of the bus or petrol, food and drink etc… a family of 3 would have splashed out between £130 and £150 today and add that to the same money they’d have splashed out 2 weeks ago at Tranmere and the home game in between!! That’s partly why there is frustration being shown. Lots of us are choosing to follow the team away instead of spending it on other things. Yes it’s our choice but we still do it despite the increasing financial issues we are all experiencing. I sometimes think these things are forgotten and it becomes expected.
A very realistic and appropriate post. Shows true commitment to the Barrow cause. Hats off to you.
+1

We’ve got a run of 6 league games now where we should be expecting to pick up points; let’s see where we are after that

Hasn’t taken long for Pete Wild to go from the best manager since Evatt to clueless on here……

Yeah as previously mentioned, bit of a strange interview “listened to the outside noise, proved that doesn’t work so back to the PW way” why would an up an coming highly thought of manager listen to another way, rather than sticking to a tried and tested method that has worked at the start of the season. Also said “More open at the back coz we spent all week trying to be pretty on the eye” wonder who’s telling him to do this. Imo he’s a top manager and will turn things around. Results always trump being “pretty on the eye”

Spot on Michael.
If these losses had been interspersed within the winning streak, there wouldn't have been as many folks throwing their arms about yesterday.
It's just that the nasty potion has been administered in one big dose instead of a little at a time.

Hard to be too critical because we know that that team is virtually the one that were playing so well at the start of the season. Obviously it’d be easier to understand if we’d had a spate of injuries and that was the reason for the dramatic change, but we haven’t, hopefully Pete can figure out what’s gone wrong and change things around…and quickly.
It’s not just a case of the poor run that is so worrying, it’s like looking at two completely different sets of players.

I said on here before the season started I was worried about our attacking options and I still am, we replaced our small forward line with….another small forward line, we replaced the only player with any sort of height who hardly scored for us with another who hasn't exactly been prolific throughout his career. Yesterday we had a defender scoring our only goal in open play since…??

What has happened to Ben Whitfield? He was easily beaten for their first goal (it was a really good finish though) and that cross in the first half….if he’d have thrown himself at it it was a goal…instead he just seemed to slow up and the chance was gone.
Warren was turned inside out throughout the game, opposition managers must be targeting that weakness now.
Nows the time the players, the management team and manager start to earn their money.

Great day out, nice pub, good company (well most of them 😁), unfortunately spoilt by the football!
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I was at the Orient game and we looked like world beaters for about 25 minutes. Kay and Whitfield carving them up and plenty of balls into the box - which should have led to goals if we had a striker who was in the right place. Then Orient scored and got the measure of us and in the second half it was all huff and puff but not really threatening.

Moving on, a defeat at Tranmere waouldn't surprise many of us, then nothing much between us and Mansfield in a dour match where they grabbed one from a set piece and again we couldn't score. My view is that it has been a bad run of games and results, and now confidence is low. Perhaps there is a bit more anxiety when in possesion, not playing with the freedom of a month ago.

There are 21 points in the bank already. I expect Wild will tweak things to make us solid and hard to beat and we will come out of this slump and start grinding out results. It probably won't be pretty, but it will be reassuring. However, I don't expect to see us playing like we did in September for quite some time.

Not this inherited team shit, this tam were second a matter of weeks ago, something has changed. Wild in his post match interview, has become a different animal that’s for sure, getting quite sharp with Adam I thought, oh dear the pressure, and what it does. :scarf:

I agree with you there, Desmond. That interview with Adam was strange and the allusions he made about listening to other people, presumably on the back of the 3 league defeats. Who has been getting in his ear? He seemed to be saying we've been in every game - even the defeats - and deserved something but changed to a more open style for Rochdale and deserved nothing but a defeat, So, 'stick that in your pipe and smoke it' he seemed to be saying to whomever had given him the 'advice'.
Don't let the old man in.
