Re: Radio Carlisle Derby
It’s very easy for people to criticise the club, but I think those doing so need to consider what the EFL would do if the club just sat back and did nothing, saying that it was only one person. Taking swift action could save us from much heavier sanctions. Just to be clear, that was not just a flare (which are also dangerous), it was much worse and could have caused a serious injury.
We don’t need flares, drums, ear-splitting PA systems, or anything like this to create a great atmosphere - we need passionate fans who support their team through thick and thin and are prepared to make a noise. Idiots like the one who threw the firework do nothing for the club’s reputation - Pete Wild’s comments last night were spot on.

Re: Radio Carlisle Derby
I wonder what people would be saying if it was a Carlisle fan that threw the firework on the pitch. This site would be full of people in uproar. An over reaction by the board maybe, maybe not, something has to be done and like always in life some idiots spoil it for those who have a bit of common sense. As a minor I’d be very surprised if anything happens to whoever threw the firework last night, but that’s where the law is an ass.
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Re: Radio Carlisle Derby
If you scan the internet you will see that the incidence of things thrown onto pitches is quite common. Coins and plastic bottles being thrown are a weekly occurrence but rarely result in sanctions unless they hit a player or referee. Flares are the most common problem in grounds around the world though not perhaps that much in UK. However Old Firm games have in the past been affected by flares being thrown and nearly ten years ago Celtic were fined approx £10k for multiple flare offences by their fans.
I suspect it is a bit of an over-reaction by the club driven by the knowledge that these incidents are almost impossible to eridicate and therefore the need to be seen to be doing something to avoid the wrath of the EFL is paramount. It is counter-productive to ban entire groups for the sins of one individual and it wouldn't surprise me if it is reviewed in due course.
Such a shame that it overshadowed what was an improved performance and a first competitive win over Carlisle in over half a century.

There are clearly people commenting about the pyro situation on the continent who.ve never been to a game in Germany or Poland because if you had there's no way that you wouldn't agree that the pyro displays take the atmosphere and experience to another level.bluebird90 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 10:04 pmAll very false to me, there’s been many great atmospheres at HS and other grounds without them, people just need to open their mouth and support the team. British fans have long been known for creating an atmosphere and following their team in numbers.M6 BLUE wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 6:39 pm
Are you really trying to say British football wouldn't be enhanced by the displays we see from the likes of the Yellow wall and many other stadia thruout Europe ? or are you saying kids in Europe dont get Asthma ? Or that people in Europe don't care for their kids ? No of course, not they just use an area of the ground that isnt part of the display.
But then again the Krauts have it better all round for instance if two crews clash away from the ground the police there tend to just let them get on with it and only get involved if innocent bystanders get caught up in it.
And how can you say that coach receptions and ground marches dont add to the atmosphere around the game. Holker Street Welcome To Hell has a nice ring to it if you ask me.

Re: Radio Carlisle Derby
The two posts by Bakewell Blue and tictactoe are spot on, absolutely nailed it.
We all know there’s been a a big increase in incidents over the last few years and apart from adding netting to the segregation panels I think the club have tried their best to not get involved. Something had to change and some idiot (age doesn’t matter, at 15 you know what sort of injury that firework could’ve done to someone) throwing that onto the pitch was the tipping point.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Ah well any legal atmosphere that has been created has just been killed with this decision.
Well done the club and some fans… you got what you wanted

The club does right. Anything that might mitigate a huge fine coming and crippling the finances or makes people think twice about their actions and/or people around these [SwearFilter] not speaking up is all good.
It’s all been brought on by [SwearFilter] fans and those that keep quiet about what they’ve seen and heard. They are a blight on the club and need to be weeded out. There’s only so much the club can do so they are doing it. It’s [SwearFilter] obvious what the fans need to do to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Exactly so, with dishonourable mentions for those around who egged them on.

I think what John is or, might be trying to say is that other fans should call dangerous behavior out.John_Bucks wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 9:37 pmNope. I’m saying they need to behave. Simple really.BarrowLad71 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 11:31 am

I am aware that this group was never going to do that so, therefore, it's up to the stewards to be facing them every minute of the game in conjunction with the CTV, just as the Carlisle stewards did at Brunton Park last season when Barrow visited. Their gaze seemed to be on the Barrow supporters for the game's entirety.

Re: Radio Carlisle Derby
throwing objects is not just happening at Barrow.
Burnley have apologised for the "unacceptable behaviour" of some of their fans in the win at Sunderland.
Saturday's match was briefly halted in the first half because missiles were being thrown from the upper tier of the stand housing Burnley supporters.
It is understood an eight-year-old was injured.
The Clarets said an investigation into the incident is ongoing and "anyone caught throwing objects will be liable to a banning order".
"The club will not let the actions of any individuals spoil, affect, or jeopardise the enjoyment of all our supporters, who have been magnificent all season," Burnley added.
"We offer our sincere apologies to Sunderland Football Club and to any supporters who may have been affected by this on the weekend."

Re: Radio Carlisle Derby
Well maybe if clubs like Sunderland and Newcastle treat away fans better and didn't force them to sit hundreds of feet up in the air where the perspective view of the players on the pitch is atrocious and awful value for money those away fans might just be encouraged to behave a little better. Sunderland is a complete and utter joke the upper tier was an afterthought, added on at a later date where to access the allocated seats you have to climb 12 flights of stairs with not a single lift [ how the hell did they get planning permission for that ] and would you believe that used to include the disabled fans [ that only changed when the disabled section of the FSA threatened to sue them ] They use those seats for the away fans because they know the home fans wouldn't pay full money to sit in them.32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:07 pm throwing objects is not just happening at Barrow.

Burnley as a club aren't entirely blameless either, they charge the full rate to sit in a stand with awful facilities [ compared to the other 3 sides of the ground ] because they know full well there is a market for people who want to sit up against the away fans and get involved in the banter etc that goes on and what really makes me laugh is their stance on racism when they knew full well the political views of a large section of their fans that just a decade ago the fans of their club were electing BNP councilors. It's purely gesturing to please the woke shits who've infiltrated the EFL who should keep their noses out of stuff like that and who should concentrate on running a football league where half its clubs aren't in immediate danger of going bust.
