Injured on Tues, left out as a precaution. Hopefully available Tuessambino wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 12:18 am I was wondering where Kay was as well crying out for him to replace waters in the second half had he been on the bench. Ref was crap should have know early on when the liner gave us a decision only to have the ref over rule it. However we need to be scoring and it then takes the pressure off. The midfield need to fire a few off from outside the box instead of trying to walk it in all the time

Catch 22 Adam, poor squad, poor results poor attendances!Adam29 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 1:24 am Too many people have got carried away with the start
We are very much a Lower half mid table club - we will likely finish 15th in the table (which to me is still a great season compared to previous)
Personally I’d rather see the club start to build off the pitch for the next few seasons - take the £1,000,000 use it to build the club while yes give a budget to build a reasonable squad but let’s not go crazy.
Start building some infrastructure off the pitch, carry on with things like today which were fantastically supported (cross bar is the busiest I’ve seen it this season after a game with having the singer on (kudos to Sam as it was her idea) and build the club slowly
Right now we are still a non league club playing at being a league club, let’s make ourselves into a league club and establish ourselves that way
Plus our recruitment especially in midfield seems to be bypassed yes we started well but please that's nor get distracted from poor substitutions, terrible defending and sometimes no game plan .

PW has got the points to keep us up hopefully.
Adam is right we are a none league club playing in the EFL.
I would also say we have a none league Manager trying to adapt.
I think recruitment and the inability to change things over a number of games is showing this..
PW is now playing for his future which if these results continue means he will not be here next season
We can afford do nothing at the moment but it's clear things are not being rectified in training.
I know we like to hear PW on Radio Carlise but I think this put pressure on him and makes him sound like a man on death row with the music playing in the background always look on the bright side of life.
I hope he can turn it around to prove that nice guys succeed.

We were all cheering and singing their praises earlier in the season. Everyone knows the areas we need strengthening, but those sort of players don't grow on trees!
We are still evolving as a club and group of players etc, and although recent results haven't been great, we'd have still accepted a mid table finish. There's still plenty of time to put a few results together and finish with some momentum.
The time is to stick together and get behind them... Show we are 'supporters' not just followers.

Red card a shambles (obviously) and you’d be very surprised if it doesn’t get overturned on appeal. We’d have probably got a point without it, Newport were having a bit more of the ball yes but they weren’t exactly creating chance after chance before the red card. We really do need to deal with set pieces better, how many times does someone end up with a free header against us?
Liked the look of both Feely and Garner, Garner might well look even better with Josh Gordon up there making runs. Billy Waters isn’t an EFL number 9

The board have backed Pete. We have a top 8 playing budget this season.Adam29 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 1:24 am Too many people have got carried away with the start

But looking at the signings and the way we are playing. Agree lower half finish

And how often do we manage to get a free header at the other end?HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 7:43 am We really do need to deal with set pieces better, how many times does someone end up with a free header against us?
Ironically, it looked on highlights as tho it was our MoM yesterday that failed to beat their man to the cross.

Re: Barrow v Newport County match thread
On a match thread like this l don't think it's particularly relevant to post about 'bigger picture' matters e.g. Mark Cooper, where we were last season, wether we'll be safe, ground development, playing budget etc. We know all that so let's just deal with the game in question. We were poor again at home and the (slightly) better team won. We seemed sluggish again from the off whereas our best results have seen us be much quicker with the ball on the deck and deploying an energetic press. PW has got to get us back to that ASAP particularly at home. That's the problem he must solve.
As for that Ref - well you may recall he wasn't happy with the kick off and stopped the game; someone near me said 'Oh we've got a right [SwearFilter] here' and so it proved.

We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

This. If its a yellow first and then he gets sent off for what he said he would've been shown a yellow for the first offence and then a red for the second. Separate offences.spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 11:33 pmI read that, but surely (as Nige says) that’s two yellows resulting in a red….I never saw two yellows flashed.
All besides the point. The ref wasn't going to do anything other than give a free kick before he was surrounded and hounded by Newport players. Just casually walked over to their lad to make sure his life ending injury wasn't too bad as he was rolling around on the floor. No consultation with the liner (who was closer and had a front on view). I might be wrong, but I thought the liner gave a throw in to Newport.
I hate the "gamesmanship" in football but our lads need to start fighting fire with fire. We don't do it and it costs us week in week out. Look at the way some of their lot were winking and grinning at the popular side yesterday after "winning" a free kick and faking injury.
I think we need a dedicated "sh*thousery" coach (joke before anyone says owt). Fair play wins no points and sides like these lot and Mansfield are getting decisions for it.
We hate Carlisle United, we hate Workington too (and Morecambe), we hate Accrington Stanley but Barrow we love you

Seb Stockbridge has recent history with sending Barrow players off. He dismissed Josh Gordon in a friendly pre season against Fleetwood. Joe Garner went down as though he had been shot following a challenge from Josh. Once the red card was brandished Garner jumped up running around like a spring chicken. Wild was livid with that red card too.

Re: Barrow v Newport County match thread
Very disappointing yesterday we had some nice plays with garner who had no support when we got into the final third. After 20 minutes the game fizzled out for us and we decided to play hoofball.
That corner at the end was always going to lead to a goal could just sense it, players knew they were beat when it was given.
Wild is getting boring every week it’s the same, lads played well and ran their socks off. Running their socks off is performances like Bradford & Stockport, not that. ( No this isn’t saying he’s not the man for the job ) Just not sure why we don’t get at teams anymore and have a good go I’d rather get beat that way.
Red card no idea - but they had 80 minutes before to do something and didn’t.
Attendance will continue that way with no home win since November.
Our season is done, flirted with the playoffs and avoided relegation happy days.

Don’t understand why, if it’s a yellow first and then another for something he’s said, why would PW Launch an appeal after speaking to the player involved, and mentioning how angry the dressing room was. PW is very good at using motivating factors to get the team going, like being the underdogs at the start of the season, and who knows if we’re constantly getting sh*t decisions then this could be a catalyst for a turn around of results.

Two decent results in the next three and we will be right back in the play off mix. It’s very tight. We scored three against each of our next three opponents earlier on in the season with same manager and pretty much same set of players. Be interesting to see how we fare in reverse fixtures.
Certainly a roller coaster ride supporting Barrow but I’m confident rest of season will be good for us.

Of course Pete Wild be here next season Pedro unless he himself decided to leave club won’t get rid of him.Young keen manager learning his craft at this level along with club management learning theirs at this level.Must be patient peoples expectations to high too match watching premier league and expecting too high standards too quickly.Team is taking shape and he will be well aware of what is required if players and finances available.Overall we have despite the odd dire performance (Carlisle) performed much better this year and I think manager will benefit from this years lessons learned this level. We at least got the ball in the box more with potential to score unlike numerous performances last season.Patience is the key when finances limited can only work with what you can afford ,patience not negativity.Big E wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 7:42 amWild will be here next year, no benefit in constantly changing managers.Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 6:59 am
