Bradford City v Barrow match thread

The arrogance of the Bantam Talk website is amusing. The "big club" syndrome is well and truly alive and well at Bradford. I think what is most insulting is that they considered us rubbish. Particularly when they had 0 shots on goal!

Bradford need to ask themselves - why are they playing in this division? The reason is obvious they are League 2 standard.

Bradford City supporters are the most negative in League 2.

They were booing their own team after just 10 minutes and if you look at any match thread on Bantam Talk they invariably slag off the opposition as rubbish.

Standard answers to anyone seems to be "we once beat Chelsea, we don't care about you". Seems a funny mindset if, as they say, they're going up. I'd be raging at losing 6 points to a "tinpot" club.

The only stat that counts is 1 0 to barrow. They did nothing with their possession. Side ways backward. Boring

The reason I posted it was to show that despite having 77% possession, Barrow played that well Bradford had no shots on target.

Team and support excellent, could not understand why the Bradford fans we leaving the ground at the 82min. Thanks for the trust for the hard work they do getting the buses together and good shout to stop off at Bingley.

Just watched the highlights and didn't realise a) what a good stop Farman made early on (although wouldn't have counted as was offside) and b) just how good a chance Canavan missed ( not criticising, just didn't realise it was such a good chance). Couple that with a couple flashing wide and I think Bradford can count themselves lucky it wasn't 2 or 3.
Makes all the whining complaints that we had 11 behind the ball and we were terrible look rather pathetic really.
Sour grapes from supporters who think they're too good for this league. Everyone's here on merit ladies and gents ..
Great to see Pete Wild with that enthusiasm and energy back in his post match interview. Superb from all involved, staff, players , supporters and the trust organising the busses and the stop off in Bingley. Great day.

As a side note, really pleased for George Ray. He had a stinker v Carlisle and it was great to see him back to battling form yesterday as part of a solid back 3. Fair play George

Hard to know what to say about was was unquestionably the worst game of the season.
You came with a game plan and executed it very well, notwithstanding peppered with the dark arts largely ignored by a hapless referee.

I know, I know and yes it is sour grapes. We were completely unable to create anything (78% possession, not one shot on goal) by far our worst performance. To be fair you defended very well and of course Canavan was your best player.

My son in law said on the way to the match " Barrow have one win in twelve, so we're bound to get stuffed". It was ever thus!

On this performance I don't hold out much hope for the play- offs unless we can play all our remaining matches away from home.

Anyway congratulations, bragging rights for another season!

I've heard a few of them talk of the dark arts and diving while conveniently ignoring the elbow on Neal, cook throwing himself over in the box, the big lad who came on up front falling over at every opportunity and the other elbow on garner that was just ignored on the edge of their box. I don't understand what, exactly our lads were doing that upset them so much, apart from winning of course. If they were doing it and I missed it, good! Every other side does it and we've been punished for not doing it all season.

Agreed. He's had the odd dodgy moment but I agree with something Pete Wild said on RC when he went on about how he can win headers all day long. If he's nothing else, George Ray is an Air Monster.

Just watched the extended highlights. We could have easily won by more with a few decent chances created. All this we played awful and worst performance of the season stuff coming out of the Bradford forum. Yes they may not have played well but how about giving us a bit of due credit for massively contributing towards that by, how well we actually played. Not necessarily because of great football but how we set up to counter their threat, how we didn’t press too high to allow them to play through us and how well we defended the whole game. BTW, how on earth Canavan missed that tap in, I have no idea

Indeed, most of Adam's commentary consisted of: "Platt...to Stubbs...and back to Platt again...and now with the 'keeper...". It made for relaxing listening because they were never going to score from there

Would’ve snapped your hand off for a draw before the game….
Kay looked so fired up before KO, he was like a man possessed - which being Kay, definitely had the potential to go wrong. He used all of that fire in the right way though which was great to see. How good was it to see Josh win the ball in the centre circle and then run half the length of the pitch to finish off what he started?
Funny really, I’ve felt far more nervous in lots of other games than that one yesterday, they just didn’t look like scoring. Probably the best defensive display of the season, with Ray being as good as any of the other defenders.
Not sure what happened to Garner but he was rubbing his shin five or ten minutes before being subbed, PE never mentioned him as an injury so hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
