Agreed, at one point one of the Hartlepool players clapped him for getting one of many decisions their way, and the incompetent liner returned a grin, like “don’t worry son, I got you”

I think it's more the manner of the negativity. It's fine margins - if Waters slots that chance away, we probably come back with a gritty away win and everyone is saying what a good 3 points it was.spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 11:30 am I don’t get why some think being 10th in the league should stop people having a negative opinion on yesterdays game. Yes, our position is far far better than most of us would’ve hoped for but that doesn’t mean you can just let performances like yesterdays slip by without criticism.
Personally I thought we were very poor, Whitfield (probably our best player yesterday) put in plenty of crosses but no one was capable of making the most of them. The midfield seemed incapable of keeping hold of the ball and the amount of passes that went astray was quite shocking. They were also unlucky not to take the lead in the first half when they hit the crossbar. All this against a team who apparently haven’t won at home for eight games. So why can’t people who’ve paid good money be allowed to be critical of that performance?
The support has increased by a decent amount this season but you want to keep them new supporters interested, watching games like that isn’t going to cut it with them.
It's not everyone's capacity, I'd just like to see a bit of constructive criticism rather than we were sh!te type comment.
Thought Wilds assessment was spot on

Are budgets common knowledge and in the public domain. I don’t scour internet or media for info., so just wonder how people know what each club’s budget is. Is this info available in one place I.e. a website. Quite interested to know what each club’s respective budgets are. Cheers in advance

Playing budgets have to be submitted to the EFL.Bingley Blue wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 2:01 pmAre budgets common knowledge and in the public domain. Although we don't know the amounts the EFL produce a league table based on the expenditure of each club.
Barrow are 8th. We don't know who is above or who is at the bottom but we could probably guess the 7 clubs above.
Either way do the Punching comments or little old Barrow hold any water? Do we expect the team not to perform in some games?
I think a hard working northern town like Barrow should demand all players give 100% win, lose or draw.

If we know Barrow are 8th, how do we not know who the seven above us are?

Aye I’m puzzled by that too. If the same source that released Barrow as 8th released the position of other clubs individually it wouldn’t be beyond those that collate a table for such things to have done so. I can’t recall reading or hearing anything saying we had the 8th highest budgetBingley Blue wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 3:14 pm If we know Barrow are 8th, how do we not know who the seven above us are?

I googled and found a website called capology.com According to them - no idea how accurate it is - but only Crewe have a lower playing budget than Barrow

Re: Harrogate v Barrow Match Thread
Re constructive criticism: when we attack none of our midfielders are of the mindset that I'll get myself in the box, the ball could possibly come my way and I can stick it in the back of the net. Without referring to stats this must be the worst midfield goal per game ratio we've ever had. Garner, our record signing looks lost atm. He may well come good but he needs to get back to basics. Start getting hold of the ball, fending off the defender and laying it off. Defensively we're solid but goals win you games and we're not scoring anywhere near enough. We must improve things in the final third.
Re: Harrogate v Barrow Match Thread
I know its hard to find a decent striker but we've got to improve on what we've signed in the last couple of seasons.
Re: Harrogate v Barrow Match Thread
The problem is isn’t our forward line it’s the supply chain when we play as we are even Oliver Twist got fed more than our strikers. It ain’t pretty but as has shown lately it grinds out results in the main. We rely heavily on Whitfield and Gotts when they aren’t quite at the top of their game we struggle for a creative spark Josh Kay offers something a little different too but has been injured.

Not sure what to think to be honest. Hadn’t given it much thought at all until I saw your post. At first glance 8th would seem high to me but I didn’t attend q and a night, and that would seem to be a reliable source. 8th seems high based on our attendances which I guess are the main income. We aren’t among best supported number wise and our admission price is comparably cheap. I know there’s some sort of financial fair play in place or loose equivalence of it, so again 8th would seem high based on that, but I guess there’s scope for investment/loans etc.AFC Blue wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:53 pmAnd what do you think?Bingley Blue wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 5:31 pm I googled and found a website called capology.com According to them - no idea how accurate it is - but only Crewe have a lower playing budget than Barrow

Re: Harrogate v Barrow Match Thread
Not delved into it so going off the comments here….Is it club expenditure or playing budget?
2 very different things & surely all recently promoted clubs have high expenditure as they have to upgrade facilities, extra club staffing & suchlike.
