I can’t understand why anyone would want to live there. Right next to the bus depot in earshot of sirens from fire station and police station and a rat infested reservoir next door. I can’t see folk lining up to buy them

Of course not but you'd think a global company that was once heading for the courts accused of giving a Saudi Defence Minister a £1billion bribe amonst other similar accusations might want to do something more altruistic from time to time. The one in Barrow can only put money into things that will benefit the community hence the sponsorship they put into both the football and the rugby’s community programmes.

Fyldes isn’t military they make parts for aeroplanes and are free to put money into whatever they want

Anyway lets get back to the topic shall we? Nothing but a win is needed this saturday to have any chance of the play offs. Plus we also need a few other results in other games to go our way starting with an away win for Grimsby at Bradford and Stockport drawing with Salford on saturday to name but two games.

I'm not going too deep here but, interest in football or not, isn't the point. That's why I said Redshaw, hoping that you older ones will remember how he and his ilk actually cared and took an interest in the local community. That kindred spirit that once shone within communities was finally laid to rest in 1979 with the election of you know who and the advancement of excessive corporate greed.
Having said that - Adam is exactly correct in pointing out the divisions within the industry protocol regarding philanthropy.
Sadly, its a different world now.

Whilst Adams point is correct about the different divisions of BAE, I should just point out that BAEs presence in the Fylde is based at Warton and not Kirkham.

Warton is very much part of the military division of BAE and is currently mainly involved in maintenance and flight testing of Typhoons and advanced training specifically of our Saudi Air Force friends. Anybody living in the vicinity of Warton or Freckleton on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon would be well aware of that.

As noted, Bae is also involved in the production mainly of wings as part of its relationship with Airbus via its civil engineering division which is located between Preston and Blackburn at Salmesbury.

Re New Stadium Think Tank, there is plenty of land west of the Res where the old driving range was. It's right on the A590 with room enough for a vast purpose-built car park. Now if the big-spending BAE/MoD ever wanted to celebrate and commemorate their long-standing relationship with the town that has been good for them over the years and continuing into the forseeable future, well look no further.

I for One hope we are in dialogue with them, They have begun working with the Council as both realise the town needs more facilities & more social things to do to entice out of town ers to relocate here to work in the yards…..Why can’t we piggyback on this and ask them for increased sponsorship and or a cash loan interest free or on peppercorn rates, They get more goodwill locally & the club build stronger foundations quicker & under far less financial constraints & offer a good standard of entertainment/footy…..Win win

Imho we need to win the next few on the trot to have any “Realistic” charge towards the playoffs, But boy what a great season so far

Agreed it's been refreshing to see us NOT scrapping at the wrong end for a change!

As I always waffle on about, I do hope we give it our all and not just rest on what in the grand scheme of things is a decent season and push on as much and as far as we can!!

Just a thought.

Listening to both Pete wild and paul Simpson on the wireless and the difference in how they talk about the run in.
Paul Simpson is bigging up the promotion push and appears to be pushing the positive vibe whereas Pete wild is actually quite the opposite.. I wonder if Pete has an eye on playoffs and behind the doors is talking to the team and encouraging them or if he is like in the radio and being dismissive?

Perhaps PW is playing media poker and playing it down? Perhaps he doesn't want to push?

He almost comes across as quite negative which I personally don't like. Paul on the other hand is instilling belief, making the team think they are better than they probably are?

Anyway, let's get another 3 and see how others fair today.
