Carlisle are far from being a wealthy club. Much of the squad we saw yesterday was inherited by Simpson last season and just as with PW he’s done a remarkable job in building it into a force to be reckoned with. He certainly is a manager you’d want to play for.

So all of those challenges that have been raised on the forum taking about threats to us should we have got there probably apply to Carlisle, starting with keeping Simpson himself.

Simpson won't be going anywhere unless he gets sacked. Carlisle born and bred he has family living there and has moved back to Carlisle himself. Huntington in the dying embers of his career and a Carlisle lad has done the same having had a new home built there hence he signed for them and Garner has done similar. The club have no money and have an over two million pound debt hanging round there necks that won't help them should they get promoted. They sale of Henderson from United or Brathwaite from Everton would go along way to both wiping that out and give them cash in the bank and make them more appealing to prospective buyers.

Agree. Simpson is not likely to want to go anywhere. And I agree he will have built a strong loyalty brand around him. They will need to heed the example of Morecambe if promoted though. Agents and loyalty do not usually fit together

Its been all over these message boards and on social media for weeks, how much the Barrow support wants to "knock Carlisle off their rails". So I'm assuming this is how Wilde thinks as well, and to be fair that's exactly how we would feel if the boot was on the opposite foot.
Not sure how reliable the so-called Barrow Chairman's comments were on Tuesday night, however if I heard that (rightly or wrongly) then I'd be saying the exact same.
And to be fair to Simmo (or Wilde for that matter), if they were not desperate to win the game, then maybe they are both in the wrong job.

I don’t take much interest in other clubs, i dislike Carlisle through family rivalry and personally hope they don’t get promotion especially so Phillips and Lumsden can go back in their boxes, however, what happened to Carlisle struggling financially, owing money left right and centre? Did they, are they still, someone invested money?

I have heard that a firm from the East end of London have invested in Carlisle .
Paul Simpsons is bound to be worried as I believe he has been told if he does not get them promoted they will send a tailor to fit him with a concrete jacket.
Not sure what colour.
He is a good coach but he reminds you.of the kid at school who was a snitch.
He does not sound like a marra having been born there.
Egremont have awarded him the gurning championship for his services to moaning.

Apparently this came from Simmo in his interview after the game yesterday, didn't think we were disliked that much from you Southerners.

You're not that much disliked. Believe me. Most of the hostility seems to come from Carlisle. I think it comes from having your feathers ruffled when we gained promotion and became the 'other' team in Cumbria.

Our 'Derby' is Morecambe. Barrow still has a Lancashire postcode. I don't want to get into the Cumbria/Lancashire argument that often rears its head on here. But the fact that our Club Crest is adorned with the Red Rose of Lancashire displays to all and sundry where Barrow AFC's allegiance lays

Why The Holker End wasn't chanting 'Lancashire' throughout the game is beyond me? That would have wound up your goons, no end! They seemed very hostile. I stood in The Holker End for the second half and couldn't help noticing that the Carlisle contingent up against the fence didn't even seem to be watching the match! The few occasions, when I glanced across at them, they seemed to be intent on goading the Barrow fans instead of watching the Football. To travel all the way from Scotland just to stand against a fence, glaring at people, whilst making threatening gestures seems comical. They made me laugh, anyway. The Barrow lad who continually made the Monkey gestures towards them was far more entertaining His antics wound up your goons throughout the match. However, to associate them with the Ape world was very disrespectful. Monkeys have far more intelligence than that sad bunch of miscreants.


Regarding the match. Your defence was superb. Apart from that you didn't look like a team heading for promotion. We are in need of a quality striker - if we'd had one on the pitch yesterday, we would have beaten you. We had a few opportunities to score. Our lack lustre strike force let us down - again. As for our 'Record Signing' I'm wondering when he's going to show up? Recovering from an injury? Haven't seen him do anything since he arrived! Fleetwood must have laughed all the way to the bank.

Whilst on the subject of 'Derby' games. Morecambe picked up points yesterday. Let's just hope they fail to retain their Div 1 status. And then we can have our real 'Derby' As for you, you bluedevil, you - you'll have to content yourself with playing Workington, pre-season .

Younger forum users may be surprised to learn that fellow Division 4 stalwarts Workington FC were our fierce ‘derby’ rivals back in the 60s. Fifty odd miles away with us in Lancashire and them in Cumberland. These games were definitely not for the faint-hearted on and off the pitch. Morecambe were in the weeds of non-league football back then.

Radio described the Carlisle fans who were there Saturday,had won the golden ticket,as that many wanted to travel. It’s just a shamed the 20+ retards who spent the entire game with their arms wide open, gesticulating at Barrow supporters , not watching a minute of the game ,wasted the opportunity for a decent supporter, who would have actually watched the game.

Just to enlighten you a 'Marra' is 'West Cumbrian', and the last time I looked at a map, Carlisle is in the 'North' NOT the 'West'. He was brought up in the 'Morton' area of the City, so he's definitely not a 'Marra'.
And as far as 'moaning' is concerned, then maybe you should look a little closer to home, Wild was almost bawling his eyes out at that defeat, 'there was only one team in it'.......yea right, a shame that we walked off with the three points then, whinge, whinge bloody whinge.
BTW, Wild was booked, Simmo wasn't.
It's like the corresponding game at Brunton Park, 'Mellish was 2 yards offside', what a load of absolute [SwearFilter], if you look at it closely, he may or may not have been offside, however even 'VAR' would have had trouble sorting that one out, 2 yards my arse!!!!!!!!!!!.
Do yourselves a favour get rid of that whinging git and you may have a chance of going a bit further next season.
We may see you next season we may not, hopefully we wont, however if we do, I sincerely hope you have a decent manager with at least a bit of grace and honour.
