Warren had a great game, probably our best player last night.farington blue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 10:24 pm Battling performance.
Big shout out to Tyrrell Warren. There's a player in there.
Not sure what Newby brings to the party?
Newby was excellent at Tranmere, got crowded out a bit last night but is still a useful player. I don't know the pitch dimensions, but possibly wider spaces at Tranmere which suit him better?

Happy with Newby/Tiensia/a combination down the left. We’re ok there, and will hopefully be even stronger when Ogungbo is fit.
Re: Accrington Stanley v Barrow match thread
According to Accy manager John Coleman he felt they bossed the game for large periods. Each to his own I suppose.
Re: Accrington Stanley v Barrow match thread
To be fair, for 70 minutes Accrington looked pretty comfortable. They were dominant in the air, particularly for the balls we played into their box.
For the last 20, they looked completely knackered. I was so impressed with how we continued to exert pressure and it was only a matter of time before we equalised. A bit more quality in our passing and I think we’d have ran out winners there.
Onwards.

Thing is we looked more than comfortable in the first half as well. Remember we are the away team. They got their goal through a deflection off Worrall. apart from that we dealt with everything comfortably. No team dominated the first half. They stepped it up for first part of second half then we took over completely.

Immediate reactions I guess and he won’t have seen the game stats that show we had more attacking intent and created more threat in both half’s.
Show’s how well organised we are with a game plan to close them down in midfield. The workrate of our players under Wild is as high as I’ve seen it.

Re: Accrington Stanley v Barrow match thread
Few things from last nite and that people are addressing on here
Newby was poor, but the consensus in the car on the way home was he just looks short of confidence.
Proctor was a menace all nite to their centre halfs. His hold up play was very good and it was something we missed all last year.
I thought our performance was very good. George Ray has been very good the 1st 3 games this season. Acquah will be a star he does need time tho. On another note the away support was once again on top form. All round a decent away nite really

Re: Accrington Stanley v Barrow match thread
That’s three good performances, and three opposition managers who thought they were the better team. Do they believe that nonsense, or is it something they have to say to try and convince themselves?
Re: Accrington Stanley v Barrow match thread
How did we manage to sign Accqua from under the noses of all the other division one and two teams. He looks a fantastic young player, what a prospect. Of the young players we have brought through the ranks he must be up there with best. With our coaches and training staff we have the makings of a future starlet.

Re: Accrington Stanley v Barrow match thread
And they've managed to come away with 1 point so if that's us being dominated by better teams heaven help the rest when we start getting it together. I suspect there's still a bit of "We shouldn't be dropping points to Barrow of all teams" and trying to restore their collective pride.
Don't let the old man in.
