Some people need to step back and look at the bigger picture and the start we have had. An unfathomable amount of away games in the first 10 games of the season but our away record is the 3rd best in the league, FFS! When have we ever had an away record like that since our return???

The equilibrium will shift and we will have a load of home games, and that will be when we need to make our move with regards to moving up the table.

The nay-sayers, doom-scrollers and general dementors need to get a grip and understand the uniqueness of the start of this season.

Points on roadalways a good result and we all know how hard it can be to play ten men.May not of been the most easiest watch but I take this result all day long and am encouraged by our good away start. Can remember not too distant past thinking when we’re we ever going to get an away point.Get all these long away games done in the decent weather and see. How they all fair at our place as winter progresses.I am pleased with out start better than I thought .Get behind team look on the positive side and please stop moaning.Pete Wild and boys doing ok.

Thought todays result was a fair result.Barrow started off well but then the Bluebirds sat back and got punished by Newport.Just a pity they didn,t play the whole game like they did the last part as we might have won.The team is not yet the finished article but is getting there.Onwards and upwards. :scarf: :scarf:

Conflicted. Agree with comments about us appreciated how good times are, but the fact is we have built a squad capable of doing great things. And when that squad performs as poorly as it did in the first half, and struggles to really break down 10men in the 2nd half, despite having all the ball, I think people are right to be a bit upset

I'd have taken a point before kickoff so not too downhearted, but feel like the 3 were there for the taking

^^ Good balanced view. Coming back from 1 down to pick up a point on the road is decent but when you look at the stats for second half it looks like we have dominated things without finding that elusive winner.

Just watched the short highlights…. Come on ref that’s never a penalty against Ray, and I’ve took me blue tinted specs off! Jeez he barely touched him and he’s gone over looking for contact and the ref’s bought it. Barrow players can’t even contest it because that would bring about a yellow itself.

Pete Wild said in his after match interview on Radio cumbria that in his opinion neither penalties given by the referee were penalties.

Sounds like the ref was card happy, once you start booking people that early in the game you’re in trouble. Happily take another point away from home, obviously wasn’t at the game but in the second half Newports account tweeted that we were “moving the ball well” if the opposition are saying that we must be doing ok…..

Watched a post-match interview with the Newport boss. He was pleased the way his lads stood up to a strong and very well organised Barrow team. He also said that the game was a good advert for League 2 football and if he had been a neutral observer he would have been impressed. He did have to bite his tongue on the referee and this new card waving culture. He'd seen the Salford game on Friday night when there were nine yellow cards handed out in the first hour. It was stifling the game and making players fearful of making a tackle (did I hear right PW say thats why Canavan was withdrawn to prevent a red card ?)

Yes, and he seemed to suggest that he (Wild) was warned that Canavan was skating on thin ice. Not sure whether that was by the ref or 4th official.

A pretty fair assessment by PW a trigger happy referee, taking of wrong options at vital times in a game we mainly controlled without testing their keeper anywhere near enough. Would of been happy with a point but had a feeling before the game it was going to be our day yesterday. Maybe that will come at Mansfield instead.🤞

Agree that this was a better game of football than it might have seemed. But it was heavily shaped by the decisions which took it off in a number of directions. The officials became the major talking point for both sides. I don’t even think the game was as physical as the record seems to suggest. The three yellows so early almost made it inevitable that Newport would lose a man as we would have if Canavan had not been hooked off.

None of this indicates a well reffed game and this ref has history. So don’t get too wrapped up in the result. Had we conceded two I don’t think we’d have got back even with the man advantage. Should be remembered that Newport are unbeaten at home and the refs behaviour gave them the “balls” to fight it out.

Interesting to see how different people see the game but I actually thought we played well, winning the ball back well in midfield and getting into some good wide areas early on, and only our own poor play really let Newport into it. There were a couple of warnings with Tiensia trying to do too much and losing it in his own half and Newport looked threatening down his side. Going forwards though Tiensia was a threat and just needs to make his final ball a bit better.
We got a let off with the penalty miss when White's pass was short and then Ray was too casual in his own box, although at the time it seemed soft and replay seems to show that there was very little in it. The Newport goal when it came was out of nothing and a great strike but avoidable before that, Tiensia missing a tackle. Farman had made a good save too from Bogle but we went from being in control to suddenly Newport looking strong until the red card.

Poor referee and there was a foul against Tiensia in the second half which was a dreadful decision he was nowhere near the Newport player, but I did think he got the yellows right apart from Canavan's. He set his stall out early and was at least consistent and so on a yellow it was a silly challenge to make on Telford and deserved a red. Not sure it really helped us though as Newport sat in deep and defended for the entire second half with a couple of breaks, but they defended very well got bodies in the way and headed everything. We had a lot of possession but probably still lack someone who can create and do something a little different in the final third. The final ball and cross was just lacking either overhit or behind where it needed to be, and but for the penalty I'm not we would have broken them down. That said it's not easy against 10 men.

We're a much better team than last season and with Whitfield and his assists to return that should give us a bit more quality and delivery into the box for the likes of Proctor who I thought led the line well and holds it up well and very cleverly, showed some nice touches. Telford was quiet but will get better. Defensively we were pretty solid overall against a decent front man in Bogle and replacing Canavan with Chester shows the strength in depth that we never had last season.

Newport aren't a bad team big and strong a proper league 2 side so that's not a bad point in the end, if you can't win then don't lose and we did that. Maybe last season we wouldn't have been able to break them down.

Having watched every game so far this season,I do think we have a very good squad, but lack the goals up front, I’ve said this from day one. One thing that does baffle me, is that we persist with the long throw in, yet never create anything from it, also we have been awarded the 3rd highest number of corners, yet never get on the end of them, bizarre really considering the manager says it’s something we work on, in training.
