Barrow Association Football Club are once again reminding supporters of our zero-tolerance policy in regard to pyrotechnics.

We are appealing for assistance in identifying the individuals or individual responsible for the ‘letting off’ of a pyrotechnic during Tuesday’s home game against Morecambe FC.

We are also reviewing CCTV footage and we will be providing Cumbria Police with images to further identify suspects.

There is no place for pyrotechnics, including flares, smoke bombs and fireworks, in our stadium.

The club could now be subject to sanctions from the footballing authorities, as a result of yesterday’s incident, in addition to further ramifications following investigations undertaken.

Anyone who may have any further information which could be of assistance is asked to e-mail media@barrowafc.com

I'm surprised at quite a few voices across this forum and the wider media suggesting last night's encounter was a bit dull, scrappy, ugly, not easy on the eye. All I can say is I enjoyed it. A hard-fought win over our nearest rivals who have been on top form? I'll settle for that. There is something I find very satisfying about this current AFC outfit and I'd say it's to do with how solid they are, how drilled they are, how fit they are and how tight they are. Yes, nobody can deny we've been starved on the goalscoring front but last night for the first time we were able to enjoy seeing the little fox-in-the-box feed off the big guy. I hope it's the first in a fruitful partnership. It's also gratifying to witness the excellence of 'old man' Foley being surrounded by the youthful brilliance of Spence, Campbell, Gotts etc.

We are probably not as pleasing on the eye as the Evatt team but then again we are playing at a higher level and I would rate this supremely solid, unified, hard-running team as better than that one. The Evatt team didn't have opponents as testing as we now face just about every week. I really don't believe I've seen a Barrow team this professional and 'hard' since the Colin Appleton one of 1967-1968. Yes, we could do with more goals but I think we'd better appreciate what we are seeing these days because who knows how the fortunes of football fluctuate.

We are more direct than Evatt's team. I think we are faster, stronger, more athletic and better out of possession.

John Rooney under IE was a joy to watch at times and we had a consistent goal scorer in him and Quigs- something we are maybe lacking at the moment.

Would have been very interesting if IE stayed for a season with us in League 2 to see how he faired.

If that's accurate then it is stretching the boundaries of racism. Anyone can be a 'big gorilla', but if it is shouted at a person of colour then it is racist? Nah. That should get tied up pretty quickly and have no further action.
Who can be a 'cheeky monkey'? Or a 'northern monkey'? Can a person of colour who does impressions be described as 'aping' somebody? It's ridiculous.

Whoever the gentleman was he was with other Morecambe officials in the home directors box for their clubs sake I hope was just a friend of chairman or director who can of course be banned but embarrassing for them if he official or a sponsor for them.]

Yep, sadly it's obvious to all it happened mate - no doubting that - and its an absolute disgrace and MUST be punished.

My point was Ste Story insinuating it was a certain director without knowing any actual facts which is wrong in my eyes to name them until something official comes out.

As I say, absolutely shocking and must be investigated and punishment handed out accordingly.

Well. Ste was right. I saw him evicted from the directors box and it was him.
Also the story matches with fans sat just a couple of rows behind who heard every word.

Agree. But in the current 'politically correct' climate we find ourselves in the Morecambe director will do well to survive it. If he had shouted "get off him you big donkey" nobody would have batted an eyelid of course.

The Last time I saw a tackle that solid was one by Stuart Humphreys (older fans will remember), he definitely took no prisoners !

Local Meteorologists had it as a 9 on the Richter Scale. Ray was incredible last night, traditionally you focus on the forwards to see a bit of skill and excitement but with our current team the back three are the stars.

Yes, brilliant, brilliant tackle. George Ray is currently a man inspired. Long may it continue.

As for Stuart Humphreys, he was definitely a bit of a hard nut. He always got 'stuck in'. Looking as if he's lost quite a bit of hair these days and appeared to have the in the assistant manager's role at Skem a few years back and then latterly a role at Cammell Laird 1907 FC.
