If it was about entertainment I would have stopped years ago. For me it’s how a game unfolds and often when the unexpected happens. Seeing my team grab an unlikely equaliser in injury time (MK Dons) gives me as much enjoyment as taking Ebbsfleet apart 7-0 and the entertainment bit getting there is incidental.

As a neutral watching a game - different. I can turn a dull game off and not worry about what happens but when your own team is involved in a dour encounter you’re still hoping for that one spark of magic.

Yes we’d love to see free flowing football but would we rather see a side that’s organised, hard to beat that gets results or Man City lite on the pitch that maybe doesn’t

Hard to watch at times but effective - that does me nicely
Sorry mate I have to disagree.

I'd rather watch entertaining football being played - organised and being hard to beat is good - if you're getting results. But an entertaining team is good to watch week in - week out. I was young enough to watch Colin Appleton manage the great Barrow AFC side of the late 60s. And lucky enough to have seen the MUFC side that contained Best, Charlton and Law. Both of those teams were 'Entertainment' personified! It's 'Entertainment' that attracts the crowds - not being dull and organised.

Football is all about Entertainment.
Tranmere Rovers & Sutton United are both playing entertaining football with 6 wins between them in 36 matches, lets hope they don`t start playing boring football and start winning games :)

The “appalling” Ian Evatt. What’s that about then? Evatt sleep with his Mrs or something?

Totally agree mate. A win is what matters most. How we get there is relative. I wouldn’t sacrifice that for exciting/open football where massive risks are taken.

A strong defence and play the percentage game.

Keep on as we are please Pete Wild. :scarf:

This is one of the worst, biased, littered with statements that are either wrong or exaggerated pieces of writing I've ever read the person who wrote it must have some imagination!

They seem to have had a problem with him since an "incident" in Feb 22.

Got to disagree. We've played some decent stuff recently without that little bit of luck or bit of quality at the end of it. Even last night there was some great stuff played. Last year we tried to carry on playing football and it cost us after our great start.
Agree with Big E. Lots to enjoy last night and in the 0-0 draws. Perhaps too many base views on whether we scored/won and discount the rest of the match?

The pitch is, indeed a worry on the pop side where there is a very problematic strip from the touchline up to ~5m in that has shown signs of being a problem in many games this year. Did someone once suggest that drainage may have been impaired by trenches dug for the electrical supply for the 'new' floodlights?

As for the rest of the pitch, I suspect periods of heavy rain have been the issue but I would also question the use of sprinklers before some matches (Wimbledon comes to mind) when the pitch already appeared soft.

Sadly, as the manager pointed out last night, the flares from the selfish numbskulls will likely lead to the club being fined and money that could have gone into sanding the pitch or improving the squad would then be lost to the club. Perhaps cctv will enable them to be identified and deny them the opportunity to repeat the harm caused to the club?
If the club is fined for the flare throwing incident could we as supporters ease the situation by having a fund raising drive to help the club out? I wouldn,t want our progress hampered by one idiot.I would happily donate £10.

Evatt is a good Manager just not a moral person.
If you listen to one of his last interviews when he was leaving it was at threat about people gossiping about him .
What was circulating about him was not nice and the person involved well another reprobate like him and Jolly.
If that was speculation was iffy.
I was in Sydney last year. struggling to order a pint in French the barmaid was French.
A Aussie thought I was doing a good job .
I told him where I came from and he introduced me to his boss a former Chorley player.
I mentioned Evatt and his face went Crimson..
Reluctantly I got it out of him why he disliked Evatt .
All I will say a good Manager but a terrible human being

Agree with you Nige. It's very poor and just a bitter fans version of the events. (Mostly wrong)
Don't mind reading a ground hoppers write up but this is just crap

I don’t think I have missed it, but is there a link to Adams interview with Pete Wild? Is there an area on bbc radio Cumbria website where these interviews are located? I have tried, but I have been unable to locate the recent ones. Many Thanks

The interview wasn’t posted as a stand alone

It’s on episode 6 of the Barrow Social

Totally agree.
I'm sure every club would love to be a Man City stroking the ball around with ease and dynamic players with oodles of technical ability.

Unfortunately, especially for lower league clubs, these players come at a premium price, even at this level. Getting those players in can only be achieved by being sustainable in the EFL and that is done by surviving year after year until such a time a perfect storm may occur and we know what can happen then.

I don't think we've been negative or dull this year. We are trying to play a brand of football (not hoof ball) that takes time to develop and bringing in the right players to fit with that style, all takes time and money.
We have a manager and staff that clearly have a direction they want to take the club, but that can again only be achieved by staying in the league. If that means rolling their sleeves up and getting results ugly, I'm all for that.
As for being entertained, yes we'd all love 5-4 thrillers every week - but you only have to look at the premier league to realise that even at the highest level games can, and are more often than not rather dull affairs.
