I think its a cunning plan by Maidstone - lulling us into a false sense of security. Beware.

It won't be easy because they're on their own 'plastic' turf but to analyse all their results and all their strengths and weaknessess leading up to the forthcoming cup tie is going slightly over the top. If any of their fans are reading this forum they'll be getting the idea that we're shit*ing ourselves! Think positive. And think about who you'd like to meet in Round 3 :D
Don't forget that we train on a plastic pitch sometimes. It's part of the facilities at Manchester

Classic case of deflection.

Concentration on Maidstone allows us to spend less time worrying about Crawley, Colchester and Walsall. Those three games will be far more important in determining how capable we are of delivering on our seasons ambitions.

Not if the ambition is to go on a cup run.

Cup runs are aspirations. League success is an ambition.

Another 1-0 win at Chelmsford with Amantchi scoring his 18th goal this season.

The gulf in class will be huge, that’s why it’s massively important to play the occasion, shut them up early doors and then a good professional display to see them off. The lads train on plastic every day, I really can’t see that being an issue

Our performances this season have been remarkably consistent. Especially in defence. One of the big differences with 12 months ago.

I see no reason to believe that this is going to change when we turn up at Colchester or Maidstone or anywhere else atm.

Cup shocks usually involve a combination of the underdog playing above their level but nearly always that requires the higher level team to under-perform. So if we maintain our levels that should avoid a shock. But this is the FA Cup.

Any figures yet for how many away tickets sold so far?

139 as of now.

Based on 300 being initially released by Maidstone and 161 remaining available to purchase.

We'll end up with just over 200 I reckon. It's also why some are giving Colchester a miss. Essex then Kent consecutive weekends is a bit of a drag, not least money wise, and Maidstone is a better away and 'the magic of the cup'.

Shows how times have changed - as a non league club, we'd have probably taken quite a lot more, with the chance to draw the big teams in the 3rd round.

Very true. Whatever romance is left in this competition probably disappears after the third round.

Until then the rules of the game are that we are the pantomime villains and every football supporting neutral in the country will be cheering Maidstone (as well as several others) on from their armchairs as if they were lifeline supporters.

And long may it remain so.
