The thug that is McLean

Conspiracy theory here but the thugs time at Sunderland where the fans hated him with a passion due the poppy issue and would see Sunderland sell him because of it I wonder if Stephenson being born and bred a Sunderland lad was giving the thug verbals and so the thug decided to commit the assault on the lad.

With no replays of any fouls on Barrow players although theres several of Wrexham being fouled on ifollow yesterday I couldn't comment on that post but im sure if anything aggressively was done then the club would pursue the matter.

Was McClean involved in the Worrall incident too ? The foul on Stephenson was horrific .

I have no idea whether Maclean is the demon that people make him out to be. He is without doubt the type of player that most people judge just by the way he looks never mind how he plays. And he plays very hard.

Due to comments he has made in the past he has become a patsy for the press who have helped build an image of him that goes well beyond the pitch. He also has acquired the unfortunate mistake of many footballers who see their “fame” as a green light to express their views on life when they don’t really have the capacity or inclination to debate them.

His career shows some indications that he cannot settle in one place too long and this might have hampered his career. He never even seemed that comfortable in an Ireland shirt where poor press also followed him.

It’s funny that the whole ‘hooray for Hollywood’ thing has drawn him in. I’m tempted to suggest that might have more to do with money than commitment to the cause though. I can’t imagine though that the family first approach that Wrexham are trying to develop endears him to their newly acquired set of devoted fans.

I’m sure his mother loves him though.

Driving back from the game yesterday going over the match in my head I concluded that the wrexham game plan was to deliberately disrupt our style of play knowing we are the fittest team in the league and that they couldn't live with our pace without a breather every 10 minutes. It worked perfectly and McLean was at the centre of it all.

My impression at the time was that McLean had led with his arm. However, I have looked at the video and it does appear that he actually headed the ball before Stephenson collided with him. Screenshot 01 below shows the moment of impact and 02 shows a split second later. I notice the assistant flagged aftwerwards for a throw in to Barrow, which perhaps confirms that Mclean won the ball.

He followed through knowing exactly what he was doing. Not going to make it obvious if he wants to stay on the pitch. Experienced and clever.

McLean is a devout Irish nat, but the hypocrite loves the English pound.

McLean’s a knob, but this thread is mental - I’m fairly sure he doesn’t do background checks on all opposition players to see where they were born and what their Irish political affiliations might be.

Which is why the game restarted with a free kick to Barrow.
