Re: Lancs Cup
Good game to watch this afternoon and a useful exercise for the players and staff.
Barrow appeared to play 4-5-1 for much of the game and showed lots of endeavour and skill on a hard, generally flat surface against a determined, lively opposition.
The players we are used to seeing in first team matches were as professional and committed as we would expect but the big takeaway for me was the skill, effort and organisation of those brought in specifically with the B Team and their development in mind. They showed lots of promise and fitted in perfectly with their more senior colleagues.
The second half trialist number 6 worked hard and looked strong as a left-side attacking midfielder and will surely be worth further interest.
Very enjoyable game and equally enjoyable company.

Good to see that the B team players are doing okay.
What I’ve seen of Bellis, Reeve, Bray and Etaluku they look pretty decent and would like to see one of them on the bench for the first team with a chance of getting game time if we’re a couple of goals up. Maybe throw Etaluku on if we need to change the game, that kids got pace

Re: Lancs Cup
During January maybe while we can name 7 subs but we need “first team ready” players on the bench as the 5 outfield subs that we are able to name the rest of the time are crucial to our game plan

Re: Lancs Cup
Barrow will now play Bolton Wanderers away in the semi-final of the Lancs Cup. Date/time TBC.
The other semi-final will see Accrington Stanley play the winner of Everton vs Burnley (which takes place on the 23rd January).
The B team game away to Salford, which clashed with yesterday's Lancs Cup game, will now take place on Tuesday 27th February, 1pm kick-off.

The competition is an opportunity for trialists and fringe team players to shine. And for players low on confidence, like Telford, an opportunity for them to regain goal scoring prowness. Apart from that the competition has little appeal.

Stats say he’s scored 4 goals from an xG of 3.18.Sea Dog Sam wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 5:42 pmReally?saltcellar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 5:21 pm
Can't see any reason why Dom Telford would be low on confidence.Take a look at his recent goal scoring stats for a so called 'proven goal scorer' - might give you a clue.

Gonna have to agree with seadog.. The initial buzz is that we signed a goal scoring machine, it clearly isnt the case!Sea Dog Sam wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 5:42 pmReally?saltcellar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 5:21 pm

Re: Lancs Cup
In actual fact, he's only had 1 season since 2013 when at Newport where he could be called 'a proven goal scorer'.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 7:04 pmGonna have to agree with seadog.. Re: Lancs Cup
Give the guy some credit
He scored 13 last season for an extremely awful Crawley side

Re: Lancs Cup
Hoping this game is the kickstart for Telford to become a regular goalscorer in the league second half of the season. Of our options I think Telford and Aquah look most likely to click along with Ben Whitfield.
