Don't think it's negative, just realistic. The fact is we are not a big club at this level, and do not have the resources some others do, which is more of a reason for us possibly not winning anything than some so-called 'little old Barrow' mentality. To accuse of negativity the guy who has got us this far and obviously wants us to go further seems just a touch harsh!mall wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 5:29 pmneg A tiveBingo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 5:27 pm
He sounds like he's losing it.
Fans need to remember we are Barrow ? WTF it's that mentality again we shoukd be thankful of getting a point because we are who we are. We are 4th in the league with one of the best away records in the league- why shouldn't fans be disappointed when we can't hold onto a lead.

A pretty fair report that reflected the game.

Thought the ref was decent today. Interesting to hear that he came from the MSL .. Maybe a sign that the FA are looking at refs across the globe to up the standard
Re: Notts County (A) match thread
He’s being realistic, look at Stockport, Wrexham, Notts County etc, most of the top 7 have larger crowds than us and multi millionaire owners, we don’t have anything near that financial backing.Bingo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 5:27 pmHe sounds like he's losing it.

I actually think today was a decent point, more so than some of the others we have got recently. That interview was a bit weird though.

Pete Wild was spot on. We don't have the financial resources of any of the top 3 add to them Notts County and a good few more. The little old Barrow tag is something Pete Wild uses to his advantage. An interview with Neil Canavan earlier in the season it was a term he used and he said it's a tag he likes. He said something along the limes of "We like the little old Barrow tag. We rock up at these so called bigger clubs and the opposition can underestimate us and think oh its just little old Barrow"

If you assumed that. Then why did you make such a stupid statement?Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 7:08 pmYeah I kind of assumed he didn't fly over for every game each week
Re: Notts County (A) match thread
Exactly, just adding to that, a recent interview with BW mentions how Pete used the little ole Barrow and the bookie odds against us, showing that to the players pre match, to motivate themMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 7:03 pm

It’s funny really bingo, your the only one who goes on about little old Barrow, what he was implying was 100% correct, think you need to start being more constructive.Bingo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 5:33 pmI'm delighted with a point and I don't drink beer. +1SayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 5:34 pm Upset we lost at Maidstone in the Cup, but in light they also beat League 1 Stevenage and today Championship #2 Ipswich at their place, not feeling as bad. Good on Maidstone. Interested to see who they draw in R5.

Re: Notts County (A) match thread
I imagine Pete probably is a bit frustrated at some of the fans criticism tbh and is probably trying to reset expectations. We're 4th in league two regardless of results the last few weeks this should be party time for us yet there's still people in the fan base trying to be negative. The man's working miracles, these really are the glory years

Re: Notts County (A) match thread
For a club our size ,given other club's fan base/infrastructure ( due to being a league club without 48 years investment) financial backing, it really is quite incredible wherewe sit at present of which I never thought I'd see !, if we eventually do get promoted, it will make Pete Wild manager of the decade never mind of the season!
Is this little old Barrow syndrome? No just reality , league football has changed dramatically since, we were last here. and we're still feeling our way.
Do I want to see us getting higher of course, but I try to weigh things up in a logical way !

Yes, people will think we are punching above but hey, we don't have resources that others have but we have an amazing group of players, players that for once seem to want to fight for the badge!
We have an amazing fan base, fickle at times yes but we do have a nucleus that have got is where we are!
Little old barrow? [SwearFilter].. we deserve to be where we are, we have fought as one, we have grown together, we have achieved what we have so far because we give a shit!!
I get what PW is saying and he is right to some degree but a point on the road AGAIN against a half decent outfit with a new manager is good going!!
I think Stockport will take top spot no doubt but the top other six, it's an invitation to the ones who have the heart and soul.. I believe we have that heart and soul, I think we can achieve the impossible and you can all call me bonkers but I think we have the right ingredients and mix to either get auto promotion or be in the mix for a playoff fight.. beyond dreams this but we are here, so stop with negativity, believe and trust the gaffer!!
We WILL be top 4 just you watch and see.. keep the faith lad, enjoy the ride (including the bumps in the road) and see where we are come may!
Could be worse, we could be Carlisle....
