Re the Radio Cumbria post-match debacle on Saturday, I e-mailed the RC Sports Desk with my thoughts about it and subsequently recieved a nice reply from Paul Newton (maybe others did?). Paul explained that they had had a fairly unprecedented avalanche of Carlisle types texting, phoning, tweeting etc. following their latest defeat. They like to let audience reaction drive the show, were trying to fit it all in and felt obliged to get people on who were waiting to call in. Anyhow things didn't go well for which he apologised. "There are times when we get it right and times when we get it wrong". Paul said that listener input for any team after a defeat is always way higher than if they have won. I think I have heard Adam say as much previously; says a lot about us supporters doesn't it? Anyhow I said we are all still friends and Paul said they are hopefull that RC will be putting on a promotion special at the end of the season.

Good to get a measured reply. It's down to us, then, to inundate BBC RC with our texts and calls. For me, I only think I can realistically comment if I've been at the game and if I've been at the game I'm driving back to Scotland when, invariably, PW's interview hits the airwaves just as I enter the radio vortex that is the Howgills.

Who was that player who went to 'kiss the badge' after scoring only to have it come off in his hand? Possibly Steve Brooks - Barrow Council were shirt sponsors at the time.

Lucky you getting a response! Still awaiting any sort of acknowledgement from those fraudsters up the coast. I didn't use any profanities either, as much as I wanted to. Anyway onwards to Saturday.
Hopefully we'll dominate the coverage for all the right reasons and then we can all switch off when Simpson starts his post-match post-mortem monologue.

Whilst I appreciate what RC is trying to do, why not get all of the reports out of the way first as most other radio stations do, in the style of "let's go round the grounds' so that anyone tuning in around 5 will find out what's happened in the match they want to hear about, and keep those reports fairly brief.

Then, when they have been done that, go round the grounds for the manager interviews, keeping them to around 5 minutes each.

THEN and only then, throw the rest of the programme open for the comments from fans, perhaps picking up the odd interview which may have been missed for whatever reason. If there are more comments coming in about Carlisle fair enough, that is when it should be led by the fans.

Whilst I understand what Paul is trying to do, it makes the programme a bit of a jumble, occasionally leading to what we heard last week, leaving the producer open to accusations of bias.
