Cook scored some decent goals and fantastic goals from John Rooney from free kicks and Andy Bond but Olly Banks goal at Barnsley would take take some beating along with the two wonder goals at Aldershot when down to nine men by Shaun Tuton and Ross Hannah.

Micky Richmond goal in a 2-2 draw against Man City in September 1982 has to be up there (it was a testimonial match or something). Up there with Brad Barry's goal in the 2-2 draw away at Chesterfield (24 August 2019) as the best goals i've seen by a Barrow defender.

This, Big Joe Corrigan in goals for Man Citeh Dennis Turrat spelling & a host of first teamers & that move finished off by Mickys thunderbolt was a classic goal, Great shout Chipmunx

It really is a great goal. Look where he picks the ball up, he’s got a lot to do from there and shrugs off the defender, only has one thing on his mind there and that is creating an opening and he finished it superbly. A goal of the season contender without doubt.

Dan jones away at Solihull.
Jason walker at Wembley.
Kemy against Salford.
Banks at Barnsley, absolutely ridiculous even attempting it from there.
Remember one from years back it was either Brodie or Cook against Tamworth. think he beat about 4 players in the box and scored, quality.
Rooney free kick against Stockport.

I also think the occasion makes the goal even better. That Rooney goal against Barnet I feel was a huge moment in that season. I loved some of the football we played in the promotion year and the season before that under evatt. Absolutely dismantling sides with fluent football. That notts county game was excellent, those Angus and Rooney goals encapsulated everything we were about. Kay’s goal against Walsall in covid too was a peach and a must win game at the time.

In the 88 th minute Barrow’s Shaun Beeley was shown a straight red card for an off the pitch challenge, which lead to players from both sides ending up in a brawl.

Then just a minute later, Barrow were down to nine men, as Nick Anderton picked up a second yellow for a dangerous tackle.

Barrow equalised in the last couple of minutes, after a fantastic free-kick from Ross Hannah flew into the top corner of the goal to pull Barrow level.

That Ollie Banks goal at Barnsley is my favourite of recent years (to be fair, all the goals in that match were good, even the Barnsley ones). The Josh Kay one in that match comes a close second. Also John Rooney v Barnet or Torquay at home was a bit special?

Going all the way back to January 28th 1967 and that thunderbolt struck by Billy McAdams . . . it wasn't just the ferocity of the strike that stands out in the memory but also the lead-up to the shot. Tony Field did some quicksilver jinking, slaloming past two Southampton defenders, almost reaching the by-line before laying it back into the path of McAdams who didn't think twice before venoming it into the back of the net from around the edge of the area. The net should have given itself a pat on the back for not being ripped to shreds by the strain it was subjected to.

That Mick Richmond goal against Man City was sensational. What a full-back the late, great Richmond was. He was good in his main role as a defender but just as good supporting the attack. I would be very happy if he was in our team now.
