Injuries going into the new campaign.

Post by FanzoneFan » Sat Jul 27, 2024 9:30 am

From listening to the Stephen Clemence interview it seems we have two longer term injury concerns who won’t make the start of the season. Mazeed Ogungbo who unfortunately seemed to have picked up an injury at a similar stage last season and Sam Barnes. Both of course are defenders, fingers crossed they’re the only two before the big kick off.

Clemence said gives an opportunity for other players to step in, no worries plenty of players in the squad with league experience at this level, the two injured players probably won't be available for any August games.

Barnes’s was injured most of his time at Burnley. Was injured when we signed him. Probably would have been above our level had he not been repeatedly injured. Has not featured so far because he’s injured. And won’t start the first month of the season because he’s injured.

Hope I’m not being too negative when I suggest that there may be a common theme emerging. If he ever does put on the shirt in anger I think the club should throw him a party.

He came from Blackburn not Burnley and his injuries were the reason we only gave him a 12 month deal. We took a punt in the hope he can put the last 18 months behind him In the hope it pays off but only time will tell

Apologies. But it’s all black pudding and pigs trotters to me.

We do seem to making a bit of a fuss about Barnes even knowing that he’s in a state not dissimilar to Steve Austin before his 6 million pound refit.

Got to admit when details of Barnes signing with an injury were announced i thought here we go again a gamble on bloke getting fit staying fit and showing potential ot taking up a squad place and never showing the class he is supposed to have.We have had a few long term injuted on wage bill in the past but usruallyngot injury playing for us not before they get here.Hope this one turns out better.
