Re: Chris Stokes
Gives time for Sam Barnes to get fit again without rushing into another injury.
Re: Chris Stokes
More than likely down to long-term worries about Barnes though conspiracy theorists will also throw Canavan into the same mix.Solid record at both Forest Green and Kilmarnock, where he captained them to the Scottish championship title. His spell with morecambe can be ignored thanks to the off-field circus (in fact he may have been released purely for financial reasons). Think he has impressed a few with his trial cameos.

Re: Chris Stokes
I think the answer to that one, Mark, is that that George wanted a two year deal whereas Stokes has been signed purely as cover, hence the five month arrangement.
Re: Chris Stokes
The bit on the club web site says "to see the interview, go to the club's Youtube channel".
Forgive me, but when I search for Barrow AFC Youtube, the 'Latest' video is Barrow v Stevenage. Is there a link to the current Youtube channel and do I need to sign in?

Re: Chris Stokes
Yep. Would have given Ray a 2 year deal .. very solid defender.. So still think we should have kept him and then we wouldn't have to be signing panic cover players

We offered Ray a deal but he wanted a 2yr deal when we were only willing to offer him one yearMark Johnson wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 4:12 pm Ray released from Barrow and signed for Morecambe

Yes he was good last season but the season previous many wouldn’t have been surprised if we had got rid last summer, do you gamble on a 2yr deal when you don’t know if you’re going to get the same player

Definitely a leader on the pitch and you can’t get enough of them. A sensible deal for all that hopefully gets extended at some point to the end of the season as C S more than proves his worth. Reminds me so much of Danny Livesey in his play.
Good luck to the squad for the coming season

Re: Chris Stokes
Adam has already stated that Ray was offered a a deal probably one year but he turned it down as he wanted two. As it is he has gone to Morecambe on a one year deal with the option of a second, Something we were not prepared to offer him. Personally I would not have kept him after his first season but he proved me wrong last season and di well. I don't believe Morecambe willl get the Ray we had last season and I think in Vassell we have better and at a better age.
