Having a go at Dallas but not the manager for naming 6 out field players? Feely did well but he isn’t a GK, it was Stanways chance to shine but he didn’t even have the chance.

So where was your criticism of this because there's nothing in this thread? Don't try and get cheap digs at me when you said absolutely nothing yourself, was I wrong about Dallas then ??

Sod's Law, innit? When I heard Rory Feely announced as MOTM with the whole 8 minutes of stoppage time to go I thought to myself "well, yes, I'd agree, but I wouldn't want to hear it now as he'll probably go and make a blunder". It was a decent strike by the Swindon player, fizzing low and bouncing just as it reached Feely but of course a regular keeper had to save that at this level. The Irishman should still be proud of his efforts, in particular the fantastic save from the free-kick. It's a rare thing to have an outfield player in goals and I remember the heroics of Bobby Knox and Eddie Johnston. The old people on this forum (even older than me?) will tell me if there have been other cases of outfield players going in the nets for us. Rough on Feely though, especially with it being the last kick.

I look forward to seeing Garner's goal on playback. It seemed a bit sublime from where I was. In fact I thought it was drifting wide and was shocked when I saw it in the net. Was it really as good as it must have been (if you get my drift)?

On my way in one pulled over a guy in his 30’s who had two real youngsters with him as he entered the ground wanting to check his back pack. Jeezo bit of common sense fella I thought. I would have made sure he really delved into the nappy bag the absolute numpty.

Players will be a bit deflated after that ending it felt like a real kick in the teeth after a battling performance against a physical Swindon side. Smith was like a tailor checking out the cloth of everyone who came near when he wasn’t trying to wrestle with them. Garner took his goal well. Hard to be crytical of Paul Farman as he certainly saves our blushes more often than not but when he makes a blunder it’s usually a biggy and that one today was humongous. We had to throw big Rory between the sticks and we dealt manfully with everything they could throw at us until the last throws of the game when they rug was well and truly pulled from beneath our feet.
Don’t think Ian Evatt never used to have a back up keeper for games either.

I thought that too but it’s been said on here and by Clemence in his RC interview that it’s classed as denying a goal scoring opportunity which it is said only has a one match ban.

Looking at the FA rules it says a player committing such an offence should be cautioned, not sent off. It was the ref’s first game in the EFL, so perhaps he will learn as he goes along - pity we suffer from his first big mistake.

It certainly seemed a bit harsh. Someone commented that the 4th official said it was for denying a goalscoring opportunity, which is a bit rich for a handball 30-40 yards from goal. Watching the highlights, it looks as though Farman instinctively put his hand up, then hastily withdrew it, but the ball brushed his hand.

A fantastic point in the circumstances. Even when it went to ten v ten we were up against it with an outfield player in goal.

It was always a red.
Stupid, but instinct to wave his hand at it. Would rather he'd have left it and let them equalise.

Thought we did ok today and Freely did well in goal for a person who isn,t really a goalie.Steve Cemence's gamble very nearly paid off.We really deserved to win this and the ref did everything to help Swindon.Some of his decisions were baffling.He is not of a good enough standard to referee matches at this level.Their goal at the end was definitely a mistake by Andy Dallas.He should have just kicked the ball away as far as he couldn't as the clock was running down.Even at the low level of football I played at as a defender we were always told to kick the ball out when the game was nearing the end.Hopefully he will learn going forward.We can,t afford to giving away leads when we are that close to the end of a match.
