FORZA BLUEBIRDS, Great start to the season and another good win under belt the belt today, lets hope we can build on it next week against Newport. Looking to get over for Gillingham game, does anybody know if you can pay at the turnstiles?

I realise Harrogate and Grimsby are not by any means at the glamour end of this division. But going to these places and actually getting wins is so difficult to do for any team.

Can’t quite put my finger on it after just 6 games but there is definitely something different about the way we have set about these matches even in comparison with Wilds early season antics. Just feels a bit more calm and mature in the difficult moments. Great stuff.

things I like about Ste Clem is that he never mentions the ref in his interviews. He takes responsibility for every decision he makes like the no keeper on the bench last week. He had no regrets. So often last season PW went on rants about refs demanding letters of apology. Looking back now he was deflecting from a poor performance

Totally agree with that. Clemence is different class compared to Wild.
To the earlier post ref Feeley . He made a goal saving last ditch tackle in the penalty area clean as a whistle.

As far as I can tell this is only the second time we have beaten Grimsby on their own patch, in the league, stretching back to 1922. We got a 1-0 win in October 1967 when we were in the old Division 3.

Great win ... this is a capable team ...and when they play with style and belief , they are good to watch ... when they dig in , they are effective ... it has the makings of a good season . Well done to all.

Simpson wasn’t the saviour/Messiah, he was a very naughty boy …(you need to be a certain age, but most on this forum are).
Anyway, back to the good guys, we played well today. Their goal was against the run of play - a good header but Feeley didn’t seem to challenge or jump? Otherwise very solid at the back, even under pressure in the second half. Grimsby seemed unsure what to do with the ball when they got it, much to their fans’ frustration - but maybe we don’t give them options (as Swindon found last week). As I was walking back to my car one of their fans said we were just better, stronger and more organised.
Solid all round, no obvious weaknesses. Stanway had a good league debut, with a brilliant tip over from Canavan’s header at the end, otherwise we are looking at another draw.
Elliott Newby was so unlucky - a really good driving run that should have ended in his first goal - Warren’s goal line save was reminiscent of their keeper’s point blank save last season.
Popov looked tricky while he was on. In the second half Kouyate had a few opportunities to run at their defence but seemed to lack the confidence to take it on and pulled it back.
Really strong midfield again, with Sam Foley being a great replacement for Gotts. Spence gets everywhere, amazing energy (he must have been close to a yellow card with his little taps and pushes, but the ref wasn’t great for either side).
Finally, the side of the pitch near the dugouts is embarrassingly uneven - players lost the ball a few times because of it.
Now please can we hammer Newport?

I guess the acid test will be when we hit 'bumps in the road'. I'm very happy that we have a competent manager and League 2 standard squad though.

IIRC Wild usually mentioned bumps in the road before the tyres crossed them. Time will tell as to whether the end result will be better. Clemence's predecessor shouldn't be discredited too much given we have been at the right end of the table in recent seasons, but the games and performances this season have certainly been more enjoyable.

Think your doing an injustice to Barrow saying smash n grab, Barrow controlled 2 thirds of that game yesterday and on chances alone we should have had six goals.

It was more a case of to have and to hold out in the end with not being able to add those early goals. Think El Newbsio needs to pick up Alex’s boot bag by accident next week. Oh wait save that swap until the Chelsea game.
